Re: Norway 1940 Scenario
It did help, Thanks. I finally got it. Not familar with the "General-in-Chief's hat" you mentioned, so I'll explore that too.ColonelY wrote: ↑Thu May 14, 2020 7:54 amWell, I may be mistaken, but for me, according to what you've written, it looks like this:Celtics wrote: ↑Wed May 13, 2020 3:02 pm Does anyone have tips on the Norway 1940 scenario in the campaign 1939-40? The 2 supply ships to open the game are sunk no matter where I go within 5 turns. Where should they head to? And how do you get reinforcements? The 1 parachute drop to the supply area just north of Narvik gets wiped out trying to land on the city by 7 enemy units.
1. First of all, you must see if you have already some units at disposal in your reserve roster. If not (or if yes but you do have enough CP, i.e. Command Points, to manage more units AND enough RP to "buy" or "repair", etc.), then you must select the "Purchase" option and make wisely your choices.
![]()
2. Then you have to deploy your units on the map by clicking on them (on your reserve roster) or directly after you purchase them (there is a button for this option - you'll see this easily once in the "purchase menu") and then click on the map. This latter can only be made on the hexes that are highlighted once you've selected an unit...![]()
3. Then, all that's left to do is to slip under the General-in-Chief's hat and lead all the available troops in the best possible way!![]()
And don't forget: A Norway scenario, it's about an invasion! You can't go with almost no unit at all, otherwise it's a failure (in terms of assault, of course) for sure!
And supply ships are meant to support the landed troops (by supplying them) or the troops that are about to land, like on beaches or something. There is no way these ships should move alone...
Maybe take a look at this video (for example), for it may already give some hints (and it is said that a picture is worth a thousand of words

Re: Midway, US Navy Campaign
Does anybody have this dilemma: When I play the US Navy campaign from start to finish, I can never play the 'Midway' scenario. After finishing 'Coral Sea', the 'Midway' scenario jumps right to "Moderate Victory at Midway', as if it recognizes some older Midway single scenario version that was already played and won. I just erased all the old saved games and replays and re-loaded a fresh US Navy campaign but the same thing happened when I got to 'Midway.' It said 'you must play the Hawaii scenario if you want to try Midway again', but there is no Hawaii scenario that follows, it goes straight to Guadalcanal. By the way, US Navy is an awesome campaign, very challenging and fun.

More about Desert Rats:
11Brevity:
-> There is a strange hex South of Sidi Omar (during deployment phasis).
I suggest here to either simply remove it or to put there another LRDG unit (even as auxiliary
) to help figuring out what kind of resistance is to be expected at Sidi Omar...
-> Perhaps complete the briefing with some info saying that "thanks to our surprise attack we don't expect too much of a resistance from Axis troops, at least until Sidi Azeiz" (or something similar)... a little warning about pushing too soon against this pri obj location!
12Battleaxe:
I was at first surprised by the defenses around Sidi Azeiz, then saw the nice and powerful counterattack... nice!
Tactically, here going for a wide flank-move to take the Axis supply basis, it's definitely worth it! (But here it's not a "game-changing" move.
)
-> In Editor, about AI teams: the first one is for the Axis dogfighters... put on "Air Seek and Destroy"... but now it includes as well the bunker of Fort Capuzzo (therefore the "!" symbol)...
-> Unit name "Bardia Garrison" with a double space between these two words!?
-> No name on map yet for our town, or village, south of Sidi Suleiman?
-> The name on map "Buqbuq" may look nicer as "Buq Buq" (as in previous scenarios and as on the two AFs on this map near this location)...
-> About overall supply looking on map... 2 "Allied supply" and 2 "Axis supply"... so far, so good...
But the northern Axis supply count for 100 (supply pts, or something), the southern for 0. And the northern Allied supply for 50, the southern for 0 as well. Why?
It would look better with 50 supply pts per supply post (even if the Allies don't need of course this extra +50 supply pts).
-> "Only" 1 pri obj and 1 sec obj, plus these pri and sec obj "only" about locations to take, it's not very diverse...
I suggest here adding another sec obj: "Capture Fort Capuzzo before turn XYZ", with XYZ being an amount of turns reasonable but challenging, for a reward of +50 RPs (for the British, of course).
And if you don't want to grant the player a "gift", then it's simply possible to reduce the British income by 2 RPs/turn... 24 turns, so 48 RPs "lost" from income and potentially 50 gained like this, so it won't unbalance all while adding more things to manage/achieve!
Et voilà !

Re: Erik's campaigns
Shocking news. Slitherine will no longer support OoB updates for Macs. Seems there are too few Mac customers. But for someone like me who will cross 10,000 hours this year, it will be a very sad Christmas.
I know this is not the right place to post this, but you guys are family.

Re: Erik's campaigns
Same here, ctskelly, I'm sad and upset bacause of this decision. I urged the devs to reverse it.
Re: Erik's campaigns
The reasoning behind the Mac decision is probably that it costs too much to mantain it vs the number of sales.
Both iPad and Playstation versions have been announced in the past without coming to fruition. Personally I would play all official content on my PS4 on the 70inch TV hanging on a wall.
So, have you guys considered a 'PC-emulator' to continue playing OOB on your Mac?
I think Slitherine should consider a side-grade' from Mac to PC if neccessary.

Yes, it is a pro.
I use this PS4 for all streaming duties (NetFlix etc are all available) and teh very occasional dvd-duty.
I see no reason to update to PS5, whenever they are in stock again (yet anyway).

I have tested last night the new Console Microsoft Xbox Series S (good value for money). The advantages of SSD (512Go SSD). With Quick Resume, you can easily switch between multiple games and instantly resume where you left off.

Desert Rats:
Another consideration related to the scenarios 11Brevity and 12Battleaxe.
More precisely about the "4.Royal Tank" unit... We'll receive two times a similar tank core unit with the same name, so basically the very same unit:
11Brevity: "4 Royal Tank" (on Matilda II)
12Battleaxe: "4.Royal Tank" (on Matilda II as well)
Therefore, may I suggest:
1. Adding the point in the name in 11Brevity (so that it looks like the other tank units - coherence!),
2. Removing this unit from the core units given at the beginning of 12Battleaxe.

I have collected 18 pages of ColonelY feedback so far...
I plan to release and update of Desert Rats after a certain official game update.

Re: Erik's campaigns
I assume this patch is just that, no new content.
