Pete:
When I try to issue a challenge to others in my division the "create skirmish" does not allow me to match up the armies. I can select my army and then when I select my opponents army
it just switches my original selection back to "pot luck". Am I missing something? I tried FOG2 default module and the TT Mod with the same results. What have I done wrong?

Tough couple of games. In my game as the Slavs, I drew up in a mixed cavalry infantry formation with an infantry and skirmisher screen. GDod weighted his right (my left), forcing me to quickly bring up my centre and right. GDod managed to all but shatter my skirmisher screen, and two units of horse archers managed to get through carelessly left gaps in my line behind my army. He was unable to exploit the situation however, and eventually his lancers became bogged down, which allowed me to encircle and destroy his army.

As the Avars, we both weighted our left. I managed to swing my lancers and armoured horse archers around the back of his advancing column, but GDod drew my irregular foot and reserve cavalry into brutal hand-to-hand fighting in a valley. Things looked dicey for me until my front line managed to disengage and a lucky armoured lancer charge by my Commander in Chief threw his army into some disorder and locked many of his reserves out of the fight while he was dealt with. While my first line was thrown back, my second line and my spearhead around the back eventually achieved breakthrough, with the help of some flank attacks due to overzealous pursuers.
