And then there's Aladair boasting he has no horse but hopes we won't have noticed that he's only chosen the Anglo Irish cos he can now have 48 armoured Superior Galloglaich over the Irish list's mere 40!

Let the boasting start - see you Sunday!

Don[/quote]

To be fair ran out of foot figures so had to be Anglo-Irish

apologies

No cloths to bring except a blue one I use for naval games so I will bring some terrain just in case you need it.

HELP, HELP, HELP

Could some one print me out some scoresheets (about 10) or if you have some (Tim have you got some left from Britrcon) as my printer has just died a death as I was about to print them, I just need the table to work out results for players as I have already done individual score sheets

thanks

Phew finished bobs figs, in time for a sensible bedtime.... http://muchallsarmy.files.wordpress.com ... 123114.jpg

I'm sure if I play bob his figs, which he is lending me the whole army, jolly nice man he is, that they will preform outstandingly bad against him.... Serves me me right for bringing a skirmishing LH army to an Italian wars comp :)

Speaking of which time to sneak off and get the makings for the breakfast burgers :)

I'll second Nigel's thanks to Alisdair for the organisation. My apologies for dashing, but I was due as a candlelit bowls competition (makes wargaming look sensible)

Amy players who where there and have not sent me their lists for Farnborough shot in 2 weeks - please get them to me. I've just finished painting my last 2 units.

Thanks to all my opponents for good clean games :-)

I will also add my thanks to those of Nigel's for the great round in Southampton and all Alasdair's hard work.

Thanks to my three opponents especially Dave Parrish who allowed me to gain a winning draw against him so that he could submarine to the top.

Attached are the results from yesterdays Southampton Round of the Southern FOGR League.

Image

For someone who claims only to play "occasionally" Dave Parrish turned up and stole the honours thanks to a big victory in game 3 over Tim Porters French. By then Tim already had enough points on the board that he was still able to claim 3rd place.

I managed to grab 2nd spot, thanks in no small part to an awesome run of dice throwing in my final game with Paddy, which saw "'enery" succeed in killing 2 French generals when losing the melee, and then beating an "invincible" Swiss Kiel with a bunch of average Landsknecht's! However this made up for 'enery's bill and bow units being mown down in game 1 by Dave Allen's heavy guns which were more effective than WW1 machine guns (and he was using my dice!).

Despite his self imposed handicap of using an all foot army with his Anglo Irish, Alasdair proved he's no mug with a 5th place finish, just behind Pete Dalby. If anyone spots any mistakes please let me know.

Overall a great day with a really interesting Italian Wars theme, well hosted by the Solent club and organised by Alasdair. Amazingly there are 8 different armies in the Top 9 places!!

Thanks to all 22 players for helping make it happen and here's looking forward to Round 5 at the beginning of December in Milton Keynes.

I had three key advantages I think:

1) the terrain in game 2. Byron's mounted army was in trouble from the start on what was one of the most terrain heavy tables - probably the most clagged-up one of all!

2) my dice against Tim

3) Tim's dice against me

Also like to echo the thanks to Alastair, Derek and all our hosts - a really nice, friendly event. Thanks!

wow - I had no idea I was so far ahead after round 2! Nicking 2 more points off Dave would have won it :-(

Not sure that would have changed anything in my tactics against Dave mind you - those Swiss Determined Foot have a mind of their own :-)

Tim

Now I know you are fibbing. I know how awful your dice can be...

But tactics...

You can't pretend you were using tactics... Unless a lot has changed recently your tactical decision making 'is which part of my army will run at the enemy like nutters...?'

I think you have accurately summed up the tactical nuances of my weekend strategy fairly and concisely.

The main advantage I found in having a Swiss Kiel in the army was that the answer to your question was sufficiently obvious that even I couldn't get it too wrong that often !

A great day. Thanks to Alasdair and the Solent Club for organising a good little competition in convivial surroundings. Only glad to contribute to Tim's mighty score in Round 1! See most of you at Warfare then.

Cheers

A very enjoyable introduction to the world of tournament gaming and thanks to all my opponents for the games. At least now when I comment on my appalling die rolling you know I'm not joking :(

Here's hoping the Southern League returns to Sarisbury Green next year with a theme I have an army for.

Belated thanks to Derek and the other Sarisbury Green gamers for hosting and to Alasdair for organising another great day for us.

Thanks to Brian, Jim & Derek for 3 very enjoyable games and with apologies to Derek that my dice chose his game in which to excel.

Looking forward to the final round in MK.
