Division A
markleslie Danish 1200-1319 AD with Baltic Tribes 1050-1283 AD allies defeats mcfcivo Indian Muslim 1192-1339 AD 63-51.
From the Danish camp.
Before

After

A break down in order and neatness that I find deeply and personally disturbing.
Probably needed a couple of crossbow units to help the light foot archers hold off the Hun but I don't know that I really want to sacrifice anything for it, certainly everything I had got a workout.
To my opponent, a close run thing and I wish you well against that other lot. Salute!

Re: TDC VII Classical - Results
Division 3 or Division C
Chris Townsend's Graeco-Bactrians defeated Bagatrix1805's Macedonians and allies 66 to 36.
On a battlefield narrowed by mountains, the Graeco-Bactrians placed their infantry line on a low hill in the centre, putting a small cavalry force on their left, and a larger cavalry force supported by elephants on their right. The Macedonians responded with a massive 10 phalanx, supported by a few each of cavalry, light and medium infantry.
The opening phase saw a lot of maneuvering, with the Graeco-Bactrian right wing attempting to outflank the phalanx, retreating their own smaller infantry force to another small hill, and demonstrating with their left wing cavalry and their skirmishers. The Macedonians phalanx did an excellent job of fanning out to keep the cavalry at bay, even catching a few skirmishers, at no cost to their own skirmisher force.
Real fighting eventually commenced, with the Macedonian cavalry eventually engaging my left wing cavalry, but at a disadvantage due to my light cavalry's missiles. On my right wing, some of the cavalry eventually made it through some gaps in the phalanx line, but all the elephants succumbed to attacks by phalanx. In the centre, the Macedonian phalanx made it to and onto my low hill, but was caught in the rear by the timely arrival of victorious cavalry from the left and right.
Victory was only determined on the second last turn.
Good game!

The Parthians held on, despite the rampaging Syracusan elephant. Thanks for a tense, interesting game Garokan. I thought you had in in the bag.

Captainwaltersavage Castillian/Leonese 1200 - 1319 with Granadine defeats mcfcivo Indian Muslim 1192-1339
58:32
A hilly area in the centre dominated the battlefield with scattered areas of rough going. The Indians brought a lot of cav and elephants and a few bowmen. The Castillians had a bit of everything, but quite a few crossbows for shooting at the Nellies. The Castillians did not like the look of the elephants and heavy cav and tried to squeeze into every patch of woods and area of rough ground to avoid being trampled. Hiding and shooting went quite well for me, though the Indian trebuchets and archers were doing a fair bit of damage. It was looking like the Indians game to lose and then all the elephants on my right flank had a panic attack whilst laying about my infantry. Nellie went home to pack her trunk at high speed. My Cav pounced and my archers packed on the hill on my left started destroying anything in range. Then the Indians took their revenge and in one round destroyed 4 missile units on my left and trapped some of my knights in a pincer move, with some veteran spears and some elephants. Those knights hung on for about 5 turns whilst variously disrupted or fragmented, which gave enough time for my right flank and centre to rush across and save the day. A great battle that swung back and forth with lots of surprises.

Vakarr Thracian (Hellenistic Getae) 329-281 + Thracian (Triballi) 350 BC -46 AD allies defeated Indibil Seleucid 166-125 + Jewish 163-111 allies 49-24
The People's Front of Judea were gulled into fighting for their overlords by promises of autonomy and the construction of aqueducts and roads, but it availed them nought. In any case, it turned out their support was only lukewarm, with only a single unit of zealots arriving in time for the battle.
This was a very scrappy battle. It started with both sides failing to face off their opponents. The Seleucids were all deployed on their right flank, in the open terrain, while the Thracians went for the more closed area on their right flank. A few Thracian horse were sent to keep the Seleucid right flank busy and were almost wiped out to a man, but kept the Seleucid cataphracts mostly out of the battle.
The Thracian right flank expected to meet the PFJ (who were there in secret, they claimed to be the Judean National Party) in the woods and rough terrain on that side, but were completely surprised to find nothing opposing them. A race developed where the Thracian infantry tried to move as rapidly as possible in a column to get around the Seleucid flank and catch up with the troops posted there. The Thracian light infantry shot up the cataphracts and heavy cavalry guarding that flank, but they charged and carried all before them. With the Thracian cavalry left flank being carved up at the same time, things looked bad for the Thracians. However, the shooting from the light infantry finally took its toll and the cataphracts and xystophoroi were taken down by charges in the flank and rear. This freed the Thracian troops to march to the centre and Selucid left, where the numbers of Thracian units were able to make their presence felt, despite the complete lack of any terrain. A struggle of monumental proportions developed between pikemen, warbands, hoplites, and peltasts. Somehow, the Thracians got in flank charges and defeated or held their opponents long enough that, even with a few units fragmented on the final turn, the Selucids couldn't get that vital 1 or 2 % to make the game continue.
The Zealots tried to intervene in a wood but got surrounded on three sides by light infantry. With a rhomphia unit charging their rear, they only lasted two turns. Really, I thought they would do better, and expected to see more of them on the battlefield.
Thanks for a great game!
