All,

It looks like about 4 games have been completed and another 23 (at least) started.

That's out of about 50 games that are to be played in the first round.

Best regards,

John

Next Monday, I'll inquire if any players are still having trouble with unresponsive opponents.

If so, I'll exclude the players who haven't picked up and posted challenges from the tournament and align participative players with each other so that we keep the round moving along.

So if you're dawdling -- now's the time to at least get your games going!

Best regards,

John

Have started all 4 games
of the two vs RBS one finished in ignominious defeat - shot off the map from big hill without initiating one combat or routing a single unit of his, other progressing well in terms of turns.
Of two vs Tiopepe only managing a turn a day so three and four turns in.

I'm not so worried about pace of play, right now, just that all the games get started. I think a week is a reasonable amount of time for that to happen.

I also don't want the "eager" players to get disenchanted because their opponents aren't getting going.

I'm thinking all games should complete within three weeks of Round 1 Start. I'm also hoping that before that time, enough games are completed that some players can get going on Round 2.

A slow tournament is a boring tournament. IMO

Best,

John

Battle Result:

rbodleyscott (Scots Covenanter 1648-1652) won vs Triarius (New Model Army 1646-1660). (0% routed vs 43% routed).

As described above.

Only in the sense that I find myself playing RBS high on a hill, both literally and metaphorically, in both our games - so other than the draw for the two maps no!

Battle Result:

rbodleyscott (Parliamentarian 1642-1643) won vs Triarius (Royalist 1642-1643). (13% routed vs 40% routed).

This was a much closer game than the final result suggests, and in fact ended so surprisingly abruptly when 4 units of Royalist foot broke in the melee phase after my last turn, that I did not get a chance to thank Triarius for a great game.

So I do so now. Many thanks.

Won Dortmund with Spanish Imperial 1503-1533 lost deadtorius with French 1494-1525

Pretty hard to fight with an army that is mostly light foot and can't charge anything on the Spanish side. French had a flanking force of 4 Gendarmes and a mounted Arquebus that happened to show up on the Spanish left, in flank and rear position. Managed to crush Spanish left but too little too late. 2 Swiss Kiels proved to be overrated as they got shot up badly, one getting disordered before it even got into a fight. It ended the game routing after a few turns of melee. Spanish Counellas proved more than the Swiss or the French could handle.
Well fought battle and thanks for the game Dortmund.

ggarynorman (Parliament 1642-1643) won vs flatsix518 (Royalist 1642-1643). (26% routed vs 55% routed).

This battlefield was split (horizontally) by a stream. The Roundheads basically outmaneuvered me at every point and won handily.

ggarynorman (New Model Army 1645) won vs flatsix518 (Royalist 1645-1648). (39% routed vs 61% routed).

Another well played game by ggarynorman. I had nothing for him.

Yes, the double whammy, I now have a nemesis...
