Abteilung Series
Hello, I have create my first scenario and I have enjoyed it.
I have in mind to create some huge scenarios with an extra equipment database tunned for these scenarios.
All started with this topic: https://www.slitherine.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=111804
I will publish my big scenarios and the updates of the database in this topic.
Here is Fall Weiss 1939:
Here is Operation Vulcano 1943:
And here is the database with german, polish and british equipment and suitable rules:
The equipment database is update with almost german army, complete polish army and british units present in the scenario.

Re: Abteilung Series
Hello, some minor bugs found at Operation Vulcano scenario.
12 SE Spitfire IX changed by normal Spitfire IX.
Database updated. All british tanks now have reconmove trait. Tanks are good for infiltration tactics. Self propeled AT hasn't got this trait. Stuart M3 and M5 added camo trait. Camo trait added for all british recon units.
Still playing Operation Vulcano scenario. Full british army in progress.

Re: Abteilung Series
Hello, I have increase the ground defense of all german, all polish and active british.
RAF fighters reworked (except SE). For the moment, there is no use of SE at Fall Weiss and Operation Vulcano.
Re: Abteilung Series
Abteilung Fall Weiss and Operation Vulcano are what if scenarios. OOB is based on historical events but not all units are present. The first reason is that there isn't space for all the divisions. The second reason is that I don't want that army can smash too easily the enemy. That can be frustrating for the loser and few interesting for the winner. Fall Weiss, my first scenario is easy for the german. Operation Vulcano is more balanced: each side army has a little more than 75000 prestige points. So we can suppose that the scenario is more balanced. I want a challenge not a military parade. I am playing Operation Vulcano and it seems that is balanced: sometimes I smash the axis computer and sometimes it smashes alllied player. That's the intention of a balanced what if scenario. Also, I haven't found any bugs and it seems that the scenario is finished until I win or loose my battle. See you later.

I played with your creativity with the mod pack)

It's probably worth doing your missions like DLC-39, where the Poles attack and defend well

Re: Abteilung Series
Hello, this is the latest database.
And this is a small scenario I use for testing german and british forces.
You can play it if you want a fast scenario in comparison with Operation Vulcano.
German Panzer Division (32 units):
2 panzer brigades (4 panzer, 2 marder, 1 stuh42, 1 recon).
1 panzergrenadier brigade (4 pzgren, 2 stug, 1 stuh42, 1 recon).
1 HQ brigade (3 arty, 1 eng, 1 bridge, 1 aa).
1 heavy panzer battalion (2 tiger).
British Armoured Division (37 units):
3 armoured brigades (4 sherman, 2 wolverine, 1 priest, 1 stuart).
1 motorised brigade (4 hw inf, 2 wolvwerine, 1 priest).
1 HQ brigade (3 arty, 1 eng, 1 bridge, 1 aa).
Both sides infantry brigades (7 units): 4 inf, 2 at, 1 arty.

Re: Abteilung Series
Hello, here is the last update of Abteilung Database:
I have been working on german and british database.
Many new units of Spitfire, Hurricane, Typhoon, Tempest, Beaufighter and Mosquito.
Many new german units fitted.
Many multipurpose units for fighters, tactical bombers and strategic bombers.

Re: Abteilung Series
Hello, here is last update of Abteilung Mod (needed to play Abteilung series):
Update of Ju-87, Ju-88, Do-17 and He-111 series (2 per year).
Twin-engine strategic bombers (Do-17, Ju-88 and He-111) are multipurpose now: tactical bomber and strategic bomber. They can attack at low altitude. Twin-engine strategic bombers are good against soft targets. Original tactical bombers are good against hard targets.
Four-engine strategic bombers (He-177) are still strategic bombers only but have better soft attack values than twin engine bombers.
And here is Run for Tunis scenario updated with new bombers.
Some fighter-bombers, like Bf110 or Mosquito, can now be upgrade via fighter rooster or via tactical bomber rooster.

Re: Abteilung Series
Hello, minor bug with recon stuarts.
If a unit is a recon unit it shouldn't have recon trait because it means that the game removes the trait.
Added Havocs, Invaders and Marauders at the USA rooster.

Re: Abteilung Series
As these scenario has a lot of units, it is BETTER to increase the MOVEMENT SPEED at the menu.
Re: Abteilung Series
Hello, I have been playing Race for Tunis.
The computer turns are too long because I had increased the movement of units.
I have reverted the movement to the original values (Panzer III 10, Panther 12).
Planes movement values have been reverted too.
Now, AI playing is sorter and we haven't got to wait for 15 minutes while computer end its turn.
Also, spotting range have been doubled because this mod and its scenarios are designed at battalion scale.
The advantage of AT units is that initiative is increased 3 points when fighting tanks and recon units.
The advantage of tanks (I have added reconmove trait) is that they can move, fire and move again if they have enough movement points remaining.

Re: Abteilung Series
Hello, this is an small scenario (35x20 hexes) to probe the database.
British have more cruiser tanks (12) than germans (8).
Germans have 4 tigers and british have 3 churchill.
There is no air force for any side.
Prestige is more or less the same.
Panzer division:
2 panzer regiments (4 panzer, 2 marder, 1 stuh42).
1 panzergrenadier regiment (4 gren, 2 marder, 1 stuh42).
HQ: 3 hvy arty, 3 aa, 1 meng, 1 beng.

Re: Abteilung Series
Hello, I have been working on the equipment file while playing Fight for Tabarka and results are as I expected.
Arty has better soft attack values and AT has better hard attack values.
Rate of fire reworked to get the results that I expected.
StuG F, F8, G and IV has another multirole: assault guns at tanks menu but can only be upgraded via arty menu.
The next step is to edit another country because german and british armies are almost done.
And added 7 planes for each side on Fight for Tabarka scenario.
And added 2 primary objectives hexes.
This is the definitive scenario, I don't expect to make new aditions.
As tanks has reconmove (one advantage over anti-tank vehicles) you can move, attack the enemy (mass attack) and returns to the coverage of friendly arty.
Always attack the enemy first with artillery to reduce entrechment and get suppresion. It is very hard to smash a Tiger with a cruiser tank. You need to do mass attacks with several tank and AT units.
Don't attack with the air planes at the early stages of the scenario or the enemy AA will punish your units. Planes should be always covered by friendly AA to smash enemy planes and covered by friendly artillery to smash enemy AA before you attack the rear units.

Re: Abteilung Series
Hello, I have been playing and probing the Battle of Lublin what if scenario:
This scenario is 30x20 hexes and has been created to see how light tanks (Panzer II) fights.
Historically, two polish armoured brigades where deployed near Lublin.
Two polish infantry brigades have been added to protect two primary objetives.
One panzer division (2 armour, 1 grenadier brigades) try to conquer polish cities.
As it involves sieges I have halved the initiative of artillery units.
Previously, they fire again attackers who takes heavy suppresion losses.
So here is the last database with almost german, british and polish rooster:

Re: Abteilung Series
One trick I discovered playing Battle of Lublin is that you can move panzers to make a massive attack step by step and place self propelled artillery can cover all panzers at the end of the turn.
You can discover that with reconmove trait panzers are more flexible than AT self propelled guns.
Re: Abteilung Series
Hello, I am working on Fall Weiss to review the OOB.
The map is more or less the same than the last version of Fall Weiss.
To make it more historical, I have included the Panzer II.
And a polish recon unit and a heavy artillery unit.
Thanks to Guille for his icons:
https://www.slitherine.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=36536
I have change the british icons for 5.5 inches and for 7.2 inches artillery because I suppose that the second unit should be bigger than the first. Don't you think so? I have included two icons for heavy artillery (155mm) and for the polish recon unit.
I have deploy some german panzer forces: 6 panzer, 4 leichte divisions or panzergrenadier and 2 motorised division.
I have deploy some polish forces: 6 infantry divisions.
PANZER DIVISION (32 units):
2 panzer brigades: 2 panzer II, 1 panzer III, 1 panzer IV, 2 at, 1 sig, 1 recon.
1 panzergrenadier: 4 grenadiers, 2 at, 1 sig, 1 recon.
1 headquarters: 3 heavy artillery, 3 aa, 1 beng, 1 meng.
PANZER GRENADIER DIVISION (32 units):
1 panzer brigade.
2 panzergrenadier brigades.
1 headquarter.
GERMAN MOTORISED DIVISION (32 units):
3 motorised brigades: 4 inf, 2 at, 1 sig, 1 recon.
1 headquarter: 3 hvy arty, 3 aa, 1 beng, 1 meng.
POLISH INFANTRY DIVISION (32 units):
3 infantry brigades: 4 inf, 2 at, 1 light arty (105), 1 cavalry.
1 headquartes: 3 light arty, 2 hvy arty (155), 3 aa.
Polish army will include some armoured brigades of 8 units.
German army will include some infantry divisions.
Also I have change the entrechment modifiers to 50 infantry, 100 normal and 200 ranged.
The scenario and the updated database on the next post.

Hello, Abteilung is my mod and Abteilung Series are some scenarios like Fall Weiss or Operation Vulcano.bondjamesbond wrote: ↑Sat Apr 29, 2023 7:05 pm I understand it 's about a mod or a game now s to review the OOB.[/? )
To play the scenarios is needed the mod because there are many new units and most rules are fitted according to the database.
I don't think that my mod is compatible with the vanilla scenarios because, for example, there are several types of artillery depending on the year. Usually artillery gets an upgrade every two years: 1939, 41, 43 and 45. In some vanilla scenarios, playing with germans, you have Bf109G plane that is Bf109G-2 in my mod. In my mod there are 6 types of Bf109G and 8 types of Fw190A. That' s why I don't think that they are "compatibles".
But you need Abteilung Mod to play Abteilung Series.
Re: Abteilung Series
As I am not able to edit the efx.pzdat I should remove the new units from the database.jugasa77 wrote: ↑Sat Apr 29, 2023 5:47 pm
