Just was thinking what a solid game system empires is. I find myself coming back to play again and again. Can't wait for Kingdoms to release as well.

I agree!

I still play it when I need a break from my game-design efforts....

Same here! It's great as-is, though I'd wish it would be possible to further integrate client states of similar ethnicity, by enabling for both parties access to their respective exclusivities - as in, should Massalia or Emporia kneel before another hellene power such as Syracuse, the latter could build a katoikia or an epiteichismata, whereas the former could with a lucky roll build Archimede's workshop even before its exclusivity is relinquished (taking it away from the liege so benefits & risks work both ways). Applying the same principle to other ethnicities could be interesting but probably would be too much.

A small change on diplomatic chances too - it's possible to purchase world wonders' regions from faraway competitors without trouble for stronger factions. Distance could play a part as a negative influence when estimating transaction chances to prevent that, beyond the static -15% from "we're not neighbours". At least it's up to the player's behaviour in solo!

Also a few extra buildings revolving around coastal food production, such as oysters which could also enable pearls as a trade commodity, snails for little food with a rare national wonder upgrade to enable purple production, crustaceans for food, or a kitchen relying on them and working like orchards do (participating as bonus goods, with the kitchen available for building only if one of these goods is present). However I have no idea whether would it be historically accurate or not, still it could give coasts or islands a different value from the military or monetary means (there's associating a fishery to the coastal market & thalassean temple, but that's it).

Well, I derived from the topic but these might be ideas worth considering for future iterations of the game!

I do agree a lot with the vassal integration part. And it will help nation with fatal shortage of key military unit. Imaging someone playing late game as Carthaginian without access to heavy calveries or steppe nomads without heavy ships at all.

It's always nice to see players still appreciating Empires! We will not disappoint with Kingdoms, hopefully (touching wood!)
