Hero attack and defense values

Just to be sure, are these values added to all the attack and defense values?
So for defense also close defense and for attack both hard and soft attack as well as naval and air attack?

Sorry, this isn't an answer... I've always assumed that the values are added to all attack/defence values, but now you've made me wonder?
Hopefully someone knows for sure and will answer.

A little more tricky question though, do the attack and defense hero bonuses also translate to their armoured transports?

I guess this can be found out looking at battle predictions of mounted units...

This artillery has hero bonuses att +1 and def +3,
and are applied when attacking with the sdkfz 251/1
