I can see some of the images you linked. Three are error pictures from ImageShack saying "Media not available" and one is a broken link.

Re: Rate of fire?
I used to use 17cm guns, but since learning how useful defensive fire can be I tend to stick at 15cm for the greater ammo stocks. But (like one of the earlier posters) I often upgrade to 17cm if I get +1 range hero or, when playing DLCs, I will upgrade the captured Polish artillery to a 17 or 21cm when I need additional striking power. Playing AK I am quite a fan of some Italian gear - the 149mm arty is one of the first upgrades I go for once prestige allows it. My most recent +1 range hero artillery in AK is now a 3-range maultier to see how that works.
Rate of Fire is also used on the flamethrower tanks. Panzer 2 has 140% ROF, which gives 18 rolls if 13 strong - useful for tidying up stray AA and Art in cities, though you probably want some mobile arty behind it in case it gets caught. I'm pretty sure that the Chiurchill crocodile also has >100%, ROF but I can't remember whether it's 140% or a bit lower and might attract a bit too much attention from the office if I started up Allied Corps to check.

Re: Rate of fire?
In my army, German artillery of any kind that develops a range hero gets turned into nebelwerfers. I find it hard to position nebelwerfers with only range 2, but at range 3 they're awesome.
Re: Rate of fire?
Panzer II Flamm & nebelwerfer is a really good combo. Both have move 5; very versatile.
Re: Rate of fire?
Thank you for the very usefull data and discussion. I will adapt my core strategy accordingly. I simply thought: bigger is better but seeing the effectiveness per prestige is quite an eye-opener.
I necro this thread because the steam launch is the ideal time to update ingame data.
I'm also certain that mainstream gamers wonkt look up this kind of data and could get frustrated if this information is held back from them.

Well, since this thread is back on the first page, I'll just add a link to another recent RoF-related discussion/analysis: viewtopic.php?f=121&t=46916#p444121
Re: Rate of fire?
This game sure has a lot of secrets! Especially when you have the IPad version.

Thats how they abstract ULTRA and ENIGMA into the game system.Akopian wrote:This game sure has a lot of secrets! Especially when you have the IPad version.

Re: Rate of fire?
After all these years, this thread has changed my outlook on artillery. Had to slap my forehead and bang my head against the desk a few times before posting.
I will be downgrading my two 21 cm to 15 cm, and keep my pair of 17s.
What I do not see addressed here is my favorite... the Wurfie.
My +3 Attack 13 strength Wurf wreaks havoc consistently. My +1 Attack 13 strength Wurf does only marginally worse. Granted, if it is seen the whole world wants a piece of it, but that just takes some care.

Re: Rate of fire?
I wouls also take in account that the only transports that the 17cm and 21cm can utilise is the Sdkfz 7 https://panzercorps.fandom.com/wiki/SdKfz_7 (70 prestige),
while the 105 and 150 can have the Opel Blitz (50 prestige) or the Hanomag https://panzercorps.fandom.com/wiki/SdKfz_251/1 (100 prestige) or 250/1 (200 prestige).
So when you upgrade a 105 or 150 you lose the prestige spent for the transport.
- With the Opel you can have a cheap combo
- With the Hanomag you can have a more offensive unit especially in the early years ( It's a combat unit, not merely a transport), since you can use it to finish off an enemy unit after moving 6 hexes forward, making it better suitable for a flanking or fast advancing army group.
IMHO the best use of the larger calibers is to let them without a transport, entrenched, to defend. Or following a slow moving army group (all without transports)

The RoF is described in this wiki as "Effective Strenght" instead of RoF
I don't know if the batteries of the 21cm were formed by less gunscompared to the 105. Maybe it's not only the longer reload which is considered?
