Failure of the outflanking support feature

I just had the outflanking support function not work in one of my multiplayer games. Is anyone else having problems with it not working sometimes? And i am sure the conditions mentioned in the manual and in the boot camp were met. I will see at the end of the game if i can save the replay and maybe upload it and the turn when it happened.

A screensdhot of the situation would help.
Note that neither of the flanking units must be in contact with an enemy unit for flanking to work.
If I remember correctly...
