I understand how units gain experience and the little symbol dots appear as they gain levels.
If a unit takes casualties and has gained a level, when recruits are added to bring the unit up to strength the experience is lost. My questions:
1. Will the unit gradually regain that experience on its own?
2. If not, will the unit regain that level more quickly than a unit with no previous experience?
Is there any way to know how close a unit is to gaining a level or just what causes a level gain?

Re: Experience...Here, Gone, ever back??
Anyone have any knowledge on this? If an Inf unit has gained an experience dot, but takes a couple casualties, and when the casualties are replaced the dot is gone, is it gone completely or is some experience retained so getting to an experience dot is easier for that unit?Blathergut wrote:I understand how units gain experience and the little symbol dots appear as they gain levels.

i was wondering about this as i read the manual today and came to the impression that a unit with high experience and less strength, would be better than a unit at full strength?
what is the point of experience if you are left weaker with the experience and less units, or weaker with replacements?
in my opinion units would have lost more of the replacements in battles than the experienced soldiers/pilots. A unit would never cycle through its personnel with everyone taking their turn to die. The experienced ones would stick around much longer.
I understand there is a way to retain some experience at full strength but it feels weighted the wrong way as the experienced personnel would have a more leadership role as well which would bring up the quality of the recruits.
are there mods for this?
