Re: GTPG Version 2
I just want to share my experience.
GTPG version 1.16 still allows the player to use the vanilla e-file or even PaK e-file (if PaK mod is installed via GME).
GTPG version 2.0 "forces" the player to use DMP e-file.
There is no difference in number of scenarios between the two versions, the campaign is the same.
Problem: using GME to install GTPG version 2.0 makes the stock campaigns unplayable (they refuse to launch). I am using Panzer Corps Gold edition v 1.31.
I wanted to test DMP e-file in the whole game.
If you use GME to install GTPG version 2.0 then :
a) you have access to the GTPG campaign of course -with DMP e-file- but it appears 4 times (under the wrong title "GTPG version 1.16") in the "More Campaigns" menu under a specific "GTPG" chapter (and not in the chapter "user-made campaigns")
b) you have access to all DLC's -with DMP e-file-
c) you do not have access to original Panzer Corps campaigns, they just refuse to launch.
If you place GTPG version 2.0 in my documents/Panzer Corps/mods then:
a) You have access to the GTPG campaign wich appears in "More Campaigns" menu under "User-made campaigns" section but it appears only once (under the wrong title "GTPG version 1.16")
b) DMP e-file is not used in DLC's (logical)
c) DMP e-file is not used in original Panzer Corps campaigns (logical)
Advantage : PaK mod can still be installed and you play the game using this PaK e-file whereas DMP e-file is only used with GTPG campaign v 2.0.
How to use DMP e-file for the whole game and not only in GTPG campaign ?: use GTPG campaign v 1.16 and create a dedicated e-file mod.
a) Install GTPG version 1.16 (directories in the delivered download are the following : Data + Localization) in my documents/Panzer Corps/mods. This way the campaign only appears once in "More Campaigns" menu under the "User-made campaigns" section. The campaign is accessible.
b) Create a Specific DMP e-file mod (directories in the download are the following : Data + Audio + Graphics + UI) and use GME to install it.
Then:
a) You have access to GTPG campaign with DMP e-file
b) You have access to DLC campaigns with DMP e-file
c) You have access to all original Panzer Corps campaigns with DMP e-file
How to create DMP e-file mod ?
Open GTPG campaign v 2.0 directory : delete all files which are not part of directories + delete 'Localization" subdirectory. Just rename the whole directory DMP e-file for instance (you only have in it : Data + Audio + Graphics + UI).
For information
GTPG campaign 1.16 structure is the following : Txt and Png files out of subdirectories + "Localization + Data" subdirectories.
GTPG campaign 2.0 structure is the following : Txt and Png files out of subdirectories + "Audio + Data + Graphics + Localization + UI" subdirectories.
I have never found any explanations telling me the differences between v 1.16 and v 2.0. I only see this forum and explanation is presence of DMP e-file.
It is strange that using GME to install GTPG campaign version 2.0 prevents the launch of original game campaigns.

Re: GTPG Version 2
Hi Von Thueringen,
I assume this comes from DMP since the e-file used in GPPG version 2.0 is nearly the same as the the one used in "Ostfront" mod from DMP.
Excepted aircrafts, all units are using the same icons (I have not compared unit values).
Then Jeffoot77 wrote earlier about version 2.0:
Feel free to share the info.

Re: GTPG Version 2
Of course I dont know what people do after they download the mod, but the e-file, as you download it from Nicos mod, or the mod with my changes that u can download here, is PURE Vanilla. I didnt touch the equipment. Nico also states that on his download page. That means in turn that the DMP people apparently did not add much units to Ostfront.RobertCL wrote: ↑Wed Nov 02, 2022 12:13 pm Hi Von Thueringen,

Its also wrong, that the "graphics" are from DMP. I gave many Ground Units skins from DMP, thats all, regarding their "Involvement". The Textures are from the pak mod. I tried to implement the textures from DMP too, but as it turned out, they had it made specificly for their maps, thus it would create errors in GTPG.
Re: GTPG Version 2
Hi Von Thueringen,
Congrats!
The icons you have used have more the DMP look than the PaK look (I do not speak about the texture). Have a look at Ostfrond mod (one of the best mod for Panzer Corps according to me and you will see how much your e-file looks like Ostfront DMP e-file).
Well I started GTPG v 2.0 campaign and I arrived at Kursk without any issue. No error found so far in GTPG with this e-file.
But it created indeed errors in DLC campaign. If this is just a vanilla e-file with "cosmetic change" it should normally work.
I started the 1945 West DLC with this e-file and after Celles scenario, I have a black screen (from intro file on screen, I was supposed in this scenario to bring V1 and V2 units in SDKFZ 7 from a point to another on the map), so I cannot continue the DLC campaign, sadly.
This e-file improves the skins of German and Soviet units, a little less on US units and not for UK (unless I am wrong).
I really liked a lot this e-file (limited nr of units, icons making units easily recognizable). I shall continue GTPG campaign with it and report any issue if found (for the moment, none so far).
It is so sad it cannot be used with DLC campaigns (original campaigns still need to be tested).
Conclusion:
Apparently the best way is to use GTPG v 1.16 (without specific e-file), and keep PaK mod installed so that GTPG campaign, but above all PaK modified campaign (using very large maps) and original DLCs, can all be played with PaK e-file.
The other option is to use GTPG v 2.0 with the "DMP look" delivered e-file, strictly limited to this campaign. This works quite well so far.
Do I have to understand the e-file in GTPG v 2.0 is yours ?Its also wrong, that the "graphics" are from DMP. I gave many Ground Units skins from DMP, thats all

So you have not implemented the DMP textures in order to prevent errors, if I properly understand.I tried to implement the textures from DMP too, but as it turned out, they had it made specifically for their maps, thus it would create errors in GTPG.

They added other infantry units with other icons (German units on canoe allowing to move on small rivers, Volksturm, ...) and very specific icons for specific tanks units (for instance Tiger 2 is not part of the purchase menu of e-file in Ostfront mod, it can only be obtained from an upgrade of rare Tiger 1 units). Ostfront maps are also larger than those of standard game, they have another texture too. That means in turn that the DMP people apparently did not add much units to Ostfront

I said i did not touch any e-file. Also I said that many unit skins are taken from Ostfront, yes. But what have skins to do with an e-file? The equipment-file is used when you want do add units to an Campaign, which i didnt do.(Are you maybe talking about the efx.file? That is an different Story.) Unit skins have their own folder. Further, I said that I did NOT use the textures of Ostfront, because it it not suited for maps outside of the Ostfront Campaign. When I say texture I speak about the ground layers.
I played the Ostfront mod Itself a couple years ago, so I know how it looks. Hence I know about the skins. And I find it Inferior to GTPG and Soviet storm.
Eventual problems with Vanilla Campaigns I dont know about, since I dont play Vanilla stuff anymore and I have not tested anything in this direction. In the past I had no trouble playing with many of my changes. But anyone who wants to play Vanilla stuff with the new graphics and Sounds, has to obviously adjust some things in the efx.file.
Re: GTPG Version 2
Hi,
I am not a specialist about game modding.
I just wanted to know who did what. Since GTPG v 2.0 is not documented compared to version 1.16, I had to make assumptions.
Our "discussion" does not help. We still do not know who modified the look of the vanilla e-file in GTPG version 2.0 (choice of icons in the e-file). I admit what you did remains unclear to me.
Installation is not clear either, GME is proposed although not needed based on my tests ("My documents/my games/Pz Corps/Mods" seems enough to play the campaign).
I just wanted to share my experience, nothing more.
I stop my "contribution" here since I feel my messages are not welcome.
A forum is a place supposed to be funny where anyone should be accepted, especially players who are not necessarily "modders".
Nico is a technical genius, he designed GTPG up to version 1.16 and discussions with him were always pleasant, he knew how to "sell" his mods

Perhaps but PaK e-file works flawlessly in all original campaigns and DLCs. Logically it could have been the same for GTPG v 2.0 stuff especially if this is a vanilla e-file with "just" a new look. But anyone who wants to play Vanilla stuff with the new graphics and Sounds, has to obviously adjust some things in the efx.file

I am also not a specialist in modding, nor did I say you are not welcome. I was just explaining stuff, and I dont have to "sell" anything either. I am doing this for fun because I like when the PC community is growing. If you think me trying to explain things in a different language than my Native one is rude, then I can not help you. The most important thing is you have fun, and that everything works as far.RobertCL wrote: ↑Wed Nov 02, 2022 10:38 pm Hi,

And yes, you dont need GME for playing, I guess by proposed you mean at Nicos place. I dont use it myself, because I find it easier to just copy paste everything and because I dont want to rely on a program. But everyones gotta decide for himself.

I just started GTPG-2 and it is a mirror image of the SS GTPG campain....whats the difference? One thing i have noticed is the mod punishes you in experience when upgrading new epuipment? Ps. Okay now that i read the rules for this mod its a harder version of the SS campaign....i thing i will go back to the SS GTPG Its a good Mod if you want a exreme hard version of it

One of the things I like in this version are Von Thuringen tweaks, which offer much better sound quality and they are amazing!MjrOu812 wrote: ↑Wed Apr 05, 2023 1:14 pm I just started GTPG-2 and it is a mirror image of the SS GTPG campain....whats the difference?
