Re: Potzblitz V20.1 FEB 18th 2023
Update on the game:
Winter happened end 1916. Effects of the blockade are starting to make themselves felt. Hunger winter in Germany. I lost about 40% morale. From 140 to 100%.
Senussi uprising is giving Entente all sorts of problems in North Africa. Spawning more units from time to time even, which is overkill. To bonus Jihad gives to the Senussi uprising maybe also needs some tweaking.
Spain held back a small French offensive in the Basque region.
I'm bleeding France white in Verdun, but they're still holding out. So the Verdun offensive has kinda failed, and I probably waste hundreds of ammo that couldve destroyed Russia XD but oh well, what's the fun in that.
Romania is dead but winter and lack of artillery is slowing down their inevitable downfall. Salonika still lives somehow as well.
I have triumphed in the Greek question and assinated Venizelos. Rasputin was murdered (Though I'm not sure if this is good or bad news for me.) Wilson lost the US election because I hardly sunk any convoys. Does that mean that the historical submarine campaign was a mistake? Or do convoys need to be more effective, forcing Germany to kill them or face Britain on steroids? I often find myself turning to submarines to secure victory even more, rather than to avoid a defeat. It feels like a cherry on top, not really a necessity. I prefer to win the war in the skies than the one in the seas.
Italy isn't getting anything done. But afaik know, there haven't been any failed offensives yet.
Ottomans retook Basra and Tabriz but haven't gotten anywhere in the Caucasus yet. Sarikamish is still holding.

Re: Potzblitz V20.1 FEB 18th 2023
Italy hasn’t had any failed offensives yet. I’ve been attacking for the past three or four turns without it triggering. It may not need adjusted to trigger less.
As Umeu said the Senussi uprising is too much in MP. Versus the AI it’s not a problem. I’m not sure how many units Umeu has but it has to be at least twelve now.
Jihad is a little too powerful when attacking. I haven’t been able to make any offensive with the British other the capturing and losing Basra. That might change now that I played water pipeline and killed Von der Goltz now.
I’m not sure when he was unlocked but Brussilov was attached to a home guard on Kiev. I didn’t put him there and he never appeared at the start of my turn as being unlocked or in my production list.
I never had any of the Russian offensive events show up in my events pool yet. If the Brussilov offensive would have I probably would have made the game a little more even and took pressure off the western front,
The point Umeu made I agree with. I do think ammo production does need a cap for minor nations. Right now Umeu is using five artillery pieces and bombers on Verdun every turn for all of 1916.
His other suggestions I agree with.

Re: Potzblitz V20.1 FEB 18th 2023
1917.
I'm out off ammo in every nation of my alliance now. I did not take Verdun though I came very close. I'm reconsidering my strategy now, and wish I had not tried to bleed Verdun dry. Probably the war in the east would've been over by now if I hadn't. I did not even do that much damage in terms of units, only in terms of efficiency, which is the worst part. 50 ammo per turn for 10 turns
and I killed like 1 or 1.5 army corps worth of units XD
Revolution in Egypt means that I might take the Suez eventually. If Ottoman morale doesn't collapse first...(tbh, revolution event just happens automatically, and thus probably should not take Cairo. maybe damage units in cairo and around cairo and take alexandria for half supply?)
Italy is gearing up to be a nuisance and I need to reinforce that front soon.
Spain is maybe finally going to take Gibraltar lol.
Overall, 1916 has not given me the advantage I had hoped. And there are rumors of a dangerous new weapon coming to the battlefield. Something like an iron cow... or whatever farmers use to plow their fields.
kills and casualties per nation

morale of my alliance members are all between 75 and 100%, most have 1 or more collapse points.
based on the K/D ratio, I think it can be safely said the Austrian army is a bit too effective, even though they're not fight enemies as strong as France or Britain, and most of those kills are vs Russia and Serbian units. That said, historically they struggled vs those. I think Germany is in a good spot, maybe even weaker than they should be in the long run, Austria is punching above their historical weight. A nerf to Austria should balance a lot of things, and maybe Russia won't need many more changes after that.

Update sounds fun. Umeu wanted me to play the CP the next game but I think it would be a shame for him not to play the CP all his suggestions. Besides I need revenge for the twelve months of hell in Verdun.

Re: Potzblitz V20.1 FEB 18th 2023
I get a feeling you're doing it on purpose now
Does this mean Hotzendorf attacks can also trigger earlier?- invading Austria unlocks Hötzendorf
Is Albert back in at start? Or how does he work now?Belgium
I think this change is going to make a mjaor impact- PP costs for repairing and upgrading are raised by +1 in case of Germany being blockaded, +1 further PP if "Severe Blockade" was played and Germany is blockaded (OUCH!!)
Someone's got what he asked for at least- added Canadian general Arthur Currie
- British and French convoys are now powered by steroids, each producing more and more PP as the game progresses (+15PP in 1915, +30 in 1916, +45 in 1917 +60 in 1918). If Germany is blockaded, each arriving Entente convoy causes a rising morale loss to Germany because of Entente people stuffing their faces with sausages while the Germans nibble on Ersatz & turnips.
Btw: Could the Graf Luckner event also get an upgrade since convoys are given steroids?
and unlimited submarine warfare should maybe give a bonus attack by subs against convoys, to simulate that subs no longer ask crew to leave the ship before sinking, and thus making attacks more deadly.
- once Sweden joins either alliance, the Swedish convoys to Germany stop (so at least Germany does not get further convoys if Sweden joins Entente)
Persia
I like this change. How much alignment does it add? And does it weight for unit type? Like more for infantry and artillery, less for cavalry and reserves?- each British Troop Transport being deployed in the Gulf of Persia now makes Persia swing more toward Entente
Good change. Now make choose none really choose none without losing diplo points, and we're golden!- made event choices in both singleplayer and multiplayer matches proof to reloading: you will not get different events if you reload
- each ammunition factory now costs 10PP (even the very first one!), if a nation has more than 10 factories the cost rises by +1 until a maximum of 15
Did you change anything for the Austro Hungarians? Industrial Warfare? Or an event to assassinate Hotzendorf in turn 1?- more surprises!
Thanks looks like it'll be a great update. And I think wolf is going to school me now XDUpload tomorrow...still checking some stuff & my beer reserves.
Ydron won't be happy.

Robotron, I am sure you’ve fixed it in the update but does Britain enter the war correctly when British Warning is played now in SP?

Yildirim group event gives 2 army corps, but only 1 is upgraded.
we're in mid 1917 btw now and still no failed offensive even though italy is attacking a lot.
Also triggered lusitania event, but it only shifted USA 1 or 2 points toward Entente. not sure if was a good random roll for me or how it works, but it seems a bit minor.
Nurse Henry Cavill (
) shot event boosted british morale by almost 60 points it seems. Went from 12% to 76%. WAD? Or maybe it was something else?
There might be something strange in how morale and collapse points are calculated. Because when I started my turn, I saw Edith Cavill shot event, then I played Revolts in India event, and when I ended my turn, Britain offered surrender. I did not accept it. Then when Wolf loaded his turn, it said before replay that Britain had 12% morale and 6 collapse points (not sure if this is enough for surrender, I thought you needed to be at 0?). But then after he saw the Edith Cavill shot event, his morale went up to 76%. Which definitely is too high for surrender. But what if I had accepted the British surrender. Even though technically Edith Cavill had already been shot, this had not been calculated into British morale calculations during my turn.

Re: Potzblitz V20.1 FEB 18th 2023
The Cavell event does not affect morale in any way. I've no clue what could have boosted British morale by 65%.

Re: Potzblitz V20.1 FEB 18th 2023
British morale is now 68% with eight collapse points after Umeu took Kuwait and Abadan.
I have not had one failed Italian offensive this match even though I’ve been attacking with multiple Italian army corps per turn.

@robotron, in which file is the code that limits German ammo production to 12 until Haber?
also, now convoys are on steroids, unlimited submarine warfare should maybe give a bonus attack by subs against convoys, to simulate that subs no longer ask crew to leave the ship before sinking, and thus making attacks more deadly.

Changes
Serbia
- "Serbia shall not bow" resource bonus reduced to 3D6, +2 diplo on turn 2 remain
- in multiplayer Austrian units around Temeschburg get maximum entrenchment (which is 3 for the Steppe and 4 for the Grassland terrain hexes)
- invading Austria does not change any diplomatic points values for either side
- invading Austria unlocks Hötzendorf
Belgium
- "Battle of the Yser" now damages CP unit northwest of Calais right after playing the event
Austria
- CP can't play both "Austrian Siege Howitzers" and "Organise Defense of Galicia" during the same turn
Germany
- Von Francois has lost the ability to prematurely end the Russian steamroller bonus when he is unlocked (he's also got quite a mind of his own now)
- if Romania DOWs after Falkenhayn has decleared "Siege of Verdun" and Verdun is still under Entente control then Falkenhayn will leave to extended R&R in Turkey
- attaching Crown Prince Wilhelm to an Army Corps raises that unit's experience by +200 (one use only)
- PP costs for repairing and upgrading are raised by +1 in case of Germany being blockaded, +1 further PP if "Severe Blockade" was played and Germany is blockaded (OUCH!!)
- raised German attack bonus if "German Offensive in the East" was played by CP to counter the raised entrenchment levels
Turkey
- made "Ottoman Mass Desertions" happen earlier if "Jihad" was played by CP, but not earlier than without "Jihad" being played. Once the Desertions happen, there is a chance that the Jihad effect is permanently canceled.
- less Senussi reinforcements are spawned if "Jihad" was played (only 10% chance per turn for 1 Arab skirmisher, was 20% before).
Britain
- fixed bug with BEF spawning with weird unit strength
- added Canadian general Arthur Currie
- fixed the efficiency of the "Mining War" event:
Russia
- Samsonov & Rennenkampf are not allowed to attack below Y-coordinate 25 (= into Austria) or they will be dismissed via event
- invading East Prussia with less than 4 Army/Cavalry Corps before either "Tannenberg" or "Crisis in East Prussia" happened will prematurely trigger the "Tsar takes Command" event, ends the Russian steamroller bonus, removes both Samsonov & Rennenkampf, causes a 15 point morale loss to Russia and a collapse point and accelerates the outbreak of the "Russian Supply Crisis".
- lowered Russian morale loss from losing cities and fortresses in Poland
Italy
- when Italy joins either alliance, all Italian units are automatically upgraded for free
- Trento is now a fortress again and will be garrisoned by an Italian Reserve Corps if Austria chooses to cede Trento to Italy
- once "Gabriel Dannunzio" was played, Italy can be influenced using diplomatic points, which can be very helpful/dangerous if Italy is already strongly leaning to one alliance.
Sweden
- once Sweden joins either alliance, the Swedish convoys to Germany stop (so at least Germany does not get further convoys if Sweden joins Entente
)
Persia
- each British Troop Transport being deployed in the Gulf of Persia now makes Persia swing more toward Entente
Miscellaneous
- made event choices in both singleplayer and multiplayer matches proof to reloading: you will not get different events if you reload
- each ammunition factory now costs 10PP (even the very first one!), if a nation has more than 10 factories the cost rises by +1 until a maximum of 15
- reduced the effect of the first poison gas attacks from +6 to +4 for 2 turns
. removed immunity to Desert/Dunes efficiency loss for units with a commander
- added a bunch of events inspired by suggestions from Umeu (see if you can trigger them)
- delayed pro-CP events for Greece
- more surprises!
Enjoy!
