looking for metal 25mm "mid imperial" roman figuar

Post by nigelemsen »

I have browsed foundry and essex. I am trying to find mid imperial roman figuares for the post 260AD FOG Principate list. I am trying to find pilum/sword, "plate" or chainmail legionaries with the "flat"/late imperial roman shield.

Any one know of a UK supplier.

Thanks
Nigel

I would also look at Gripping Beast. They do a range of Mailed and Unarmoured troops in Helmets, Hats and bare heads. Officially Late Roman but mine may well serve as Late Principate troops at some point (Claudius II Gothicus probably)

Nigel

Had another look at the Gripping Beast Web site.

An alternative for Severan period Legions would be Early Imperial Legionaries (Lorica Segmentata) but get Oval shields as used in the 'British and Welsh Kingdoms' range. These would fit Late Roman patterns (and Transfers if you want to use them) while the Legions would look like their earlier counterparts.

I haven't tried asking them for this but they are usually very helpful.

I love the Gripping Beast figs BUT they are 28mm
My 25/28mm Romans are almost all Gripping Beast
We can't hardly get them right now in the US
i also know that G/B sells seperate packs of shields which might just fit the bill for you
If you want a true 25mm I would think Essex
Those are getting hard to come by also here on this side of the pond
