"Buying" Heroes

Being randomly awarded heroes is very hit and miss in the sense where the player can get anywhere from extremely powerful hero combinations to completely redundant and can seriously interfere with how the player may choose to envisage their battlegroup (say a player wants to go heavy on aircraft, they may or may not receive the heroes enabling this).

Thus, it would be useful if there was a way or an option to buy heroes, for example, for prestige.

The player would not only be able to to buy heroes that make sense for their playstyle and core but can also either avoid or embrace very powerful hero combinations as they choose.

While choosing any hero at any time may be broken, would be cool if at least a few times per campaing we are allowed to choose between a few options (like choose 1 between 3 random heroes) or reroll a hero we have for another random one.

I agree that something like this would work, without breaking the game.
