Copying Save Games
I'm a relatively new Panzer Corps player (bought it nearly a year ago and recently started GC40) and i would like to ask a question. I usually play on my desktop PC but now i've also installed it on my notebook to continue playing during a business trip. Nothing happens when i try to load a save game from my desktop PC. Does anyone know if it is not possible to continue my campaign on another computer? I believe i read in this forum that it is Ok for the publisher to install the game on two computers as long as the same person is using it. Could it be the resolution? My notebook has a lower resolution.

Re: Copying Save Games
I tried loading an old save game from the vanilla campaign and this one is loading fine. IIRC this game was saved with the same resolution as the one the notebook has. Seems to confirm my suspicion. I suppose i have to wait until i return home.

Re: Copying Save Games
Now i tried to start a new campaign and the game (Panzer Corps Gold) says i do not have the expansion (no matter which campaign i choose besides vanilla) installed. So perhaps this is the reason for a GC save game not loading after all.
Re: Copying Save Games
I have PC installed on a laptop and a desktop and copy over savefiles all the time, works like a charm.
Both use the same license (not steam) and have the same version.
Ideally I redirect the save directory to a shared network drive but haven't really looked into that

Re: Copying Save Games
Indeed I think your installations aren't identical. I have the full PC Gold edition installed on both computers.

Re: Copying Save Games
Yes, that really is the problem. Tried fiddling with the registry, reinstalled 4-5 times but each install ends up as PC Vanilla. In the launcher it says Gold, but after that no DLC, no AK etc. although the files are there on the hard drive.
I have the GOG version, not Steam, where others also had problems. And the first install went Ok without problems. On the notebook i used the same install files from GOG. Perhaps i will try again tomorrow. Thanks for the advice anyway, PanzerTum.

Re: Copying Save Games
With Steam on the Mac you had to install each DLC individually.
In the Install window you select which DLC to install, and reenter the same Gold serial number and that DLC is installed.
I don't know if GOG works the same way but you can try it.
There is another simple way to solve your problem, but posting it might get me kicked off the forum.

Re: Copying Save Games
With GOG you get an installer file, en1installer0.exe (but the name does not matter, i think) plus several more with an appended index for the patches, i think (they are considerably smaller). There is no need (and no way) to enter a serial number, the game is simply installed and runs when you click the link. I see the folders and files of the DLCs and Expansions (Afrika Korps etc.) on the hard drive, so they are installed, only the game does apparently not recognize them correctly - on this computer.
I will try again and post here if i find a solution, in case anyone has the same problem.

Re: Copying Save Games
This tip from an older thread (Panzer Corps Gold FAQ) does at least work in so far as the expansions become playable (but not the DLCs):
In the same thread there is an advice to copy all DLC files to a Mod directory (Panzer Corps Gold FAQ), so that the DLCs appear as mods. I did not try this as i do not want to continue with the campaign while unsure if any new save game would be accepted by the original install on the desktop PC.
Thanks to all who tried to help and vasypapa for originally posting the first tip in the cited thread.
So i can at least give one of the expansions a try until returning home where i can continue with DLC40.- a modification in registry gives the possibility to play expansions, but this modification has to be made every time you change expansions :
- Regedit > HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Slitherine\Panzer Corps
- in ActiveExpansion, change the entry with the name of DLC (same name of directories in C:\Program Files (x86)\Steam\steamapps\common\Panzer Corps\Expansion2) :
- ak for Africa Korps,
- sc for Soviet Corps,
- ac for Allied Corps.

Re: Copying Save Games
Compare the DLC folders in your laptop to the ones on your desktop, Copy the missing Text file to the laptop.
DLC folder in this case would be 'GC40'.
An install installs all the DLCs and independent campaigns, it just doesn't authorize them.
Although a Gold install should authorize.

Re: Copying Save Games
I have no experience with the GOG edition, but like others I play between my desktop and laptop with no problems (sorry if that's no help!).
Sorry if it's a dumb question, but I guess you're aware that the GC DLCs are in the "Classified" (mods) folder?

I will have a look at the folders, although i suspect a missing registry key or something similar.dalfrede wrote: ↑Tue Jan 17, 2023 9:32 pm Compare the DLC folders in your laptop to the ones on your desktop, Copy the missing Text file to the laptop.

Or are you sure that it is a text file that does the authorizing?

Re: Copying Save Games
In the game menu? Yes, i know that, but the "Classified" folder is not there on the laptop, the lower right corner is empty.
And the icons for the expansions are there and clickable, but i get a message to buy the expansion if i click one of them. Clicking in this message opens a browser with the GOG website.

I did compare the DLC folders and there are txt files present in both installs, contents seem identical for the few i compared.bunsenbrenner wrote: ↑Wed Jan 18, 2023 6:42 pmI will have a look at the folders, although i suspect a missing registry key or something similar.dalfrede wrote: ↑Tue Jan 17, 2023 9:32 pm Compare the DLC folders in your laptop to the ones on your desktop, Copy the missing Text file to the laptop.

What is missing in the Vanilla-campaign-only-install are some files called goggame followed by a long number. Maybe these files contain the licences for the expansions.
