Pestering devs for news
So, the forum's been really quiet lately, which is fair with all the holiday activities and whatnot. We're coming up on about 2 months since the last DLC release, so clearly it's time for some speculation and to start bugging the devs with unnecessary pressure about the next one!
Pacific or AO 45 first? What's the next DLC campaign after the first run of AO? I hope and assume we'll get an AO West and an Afrika Corps at some point, but will an Allied or Soviet campaign come in between Axis campaigns? Maybe a Sealion or expanded alt-history path campaign? would love to get some dev commentary on that battery of questions, unlikely as it is.
In all seriousness, I hope the team had a good holiday season, can't wait to see the next release!

Don't worry man, we'll probably get some news when the devs come back to the studios. As for what's next, I'm hoping Pacific. So I can test out the new naval and marine mechanics.Raganr129 wrote: ↑Wed Jan 04, 2023 6:54 pm So, the forum's been really quiet lately, which is fair with all the holiday activities and whatnot. So there is is no one who got 15mins freetimte to write a news? Well, that would be no good marketing, you should try to tie the player to the game.Retributarr wrote: ↑Thu Jan 05, 2023 11:46 am Perhap's???... "No-News!"... is... "Good-News!":

I can just repeat myself and keep wondering why there is no rough time table.
2023 ==> 1. AO 1945 EAST; 2. AO 1943 West, 3. ??? ; Pacific is designed parallelly. Where is problem?
Re: Pestering devs for news
The last time they did one of those “updates” it was to tell us that Pacific still had a pulse and that it will be worked on and come out someday. It was a ridiculously generic post and they got some heat for it. The intention was good, but I bet they’re being a little more judicious about what they put out.
I get it - as a core fan I’d like to see considerably more action as well. Thank God for Grondel and the PC1 remake! Got me through the holidays!

Re: Pestering devs for news
What is in the pipeline? (I've been away as I do...)
All I'm aware of is Pacific Corps module (As Japan or USA?)
and AO's finale?
Have they put the Allied/Soviet Corps in the pipeline too?

Re: Pestering devs for news
As I've mentioned before, the devs don't use these forums or Steam except just after a release to check on any bug reports or, in the case of externally contracted designers like Kerensky, during betas. After abuse here, on other forums, and worse, personal targetted attacks via DMs and email, the emotional toll was too great.
We do however regularly pass things onto them so these and other forums are not being ignored. Its just a slower process than we or you would like.
As ever, we will post information when we have it.

I think there are 2 more projects that's not announced yet, from one of the Slitherine streamings iirc.
Re: Pestering devs for news
I'm really sorry (but not surprised) to hear that. Some people are such a**holes, especially online! The vast majority of us are pesky simply because we admire you guys and your work so much, and we find it hard to wait--we're just like little kids before a holiday. Keep up the great work!Patrick Ward wrote: ↑Wed Jan 11, 2023 1:25 pm As I've mentioned before, the devs don't use these forums or Steam except just after a release to check on any bug reports or, in the case of externally contracted designers like Kerensky, during betas. But yeah. Game development is stressful enough with out the abuse and world events adding to it, so we can only support their decision as much as possible. I know when they do show their faces that everyone appreciates their involvement and help and that most people are actually decent human beings.
Thanks for the support.

I'm quite looking forward to the Japan campaign to be honest. But I reckon if they do the Allied (I really hope it's from 1939 though), it will be fantastic. I'm really enjoying the AO's at the moment, having finally bit the bullet and bought them with the view of '45 coming out this year hopefully.

They did say that Allied Corps and Soviet Corps will arrive at some time after they are done with the Grand Campaign, just as things were for the old Panzer Corps.RVallant wrote: ↑Wed Jan 11, 2023 5:12 pmOh nice.VirgilInTheSKY wrote: ↑Wed Jan 11, 2023 2:44 pmI think there are 2 more projects that's not announced yet, from one of the Slitherine streamings iirc.

I sincerely apologize for all uneducated people, it is an absolute disgrace to attack somebody personally in whatever form.Game development is stressful enough with out the abuse and world events adding to it, so we can only support their decision as much as possible. I know when they do show their faces that everyone appreciates their involvement and help and that most people are actually decent human beings.
I hope these are rare individuals which should be banished from the forum and blocked.
Just as I often say: keep your quality work up. If it lasts longer then it lasts longer

It is better for us to wait instead of complaining that something was shipped with a lot of bugs.
Re: Pestering devs for news
I hope its the Pacific too.
But i really hope for a pacific style grand campaign in the future. Where as this pacific looks to be more like the vanilla campaign.
Would love to switch on and off between Naval battles and then landings with the naval battles dictating how hard the landings will be. Also battles like Guadalcanal could be many different scenarios with multiple naval engagements and japanese counterattacks.
A japanese grand campaign could also be really interesting in the future as well.
Was always disappointed that Order of Battle never even did a grand campaign for the pacific.
A cool feature that would be awesome to add to a pacific grand campaign would be ship repair times. For instance if a ship takes alot of damage in one battle, and the next battle is less than a month than the ship should not be available, or if u make it available than it starts with reduced hitpoints. Something like that would really make it more immersive and strategic. Also a limit on what ships are available to purchase. The traits feature would definitely come into play here as well.

(Even if this is a "vanilla-Campaign!"... we need it anyway... as a mindset or base of understanding of where the situation actually stood... before veering-off into "Gaming-Ahypotheticals or offshoots' of the understanding of the original sequence of events).
Would love to switch on and off between Naval battles and then landings with the naval battles dictating how hard the landings will be.
***Tarawa!... was an example of a real difficult beast to master!. First off!... something like 2-million tonne's of regular ship-artillery gun-shells were lobbed at the Island-atoll, but because most of the volleys from these deck-guns were mostly horizontal in flight... they did little to no-real-damage to the Fortified Japanese emplacements which were mostly under the ground-surface.
***Next!... because so-many of the landing-craft that were used were regular-flat bottomed barges... they got "Hung-Up" on the "Coral-Reefs" some 3000 feet or 1000 meters from the beach... so the marines were forced at that point to disembark from their landing-craft... and then to wade thRough 1000 meters Of waist-height water while Japanese Artillery was bombarding and slaughtering them in mass-numbers... turning the 'Sea-Water;,,, "Red".
***What really helped most of all was the use of "Tracked-Landing-Craft" which at that point were used at that time... first and foremost... to bring supplies quickly onshore to resupply the troops... these specialized landing-craft were able to effortlessly negotiate crossing over the "Coral-Reefs"... but were now unable to get far-enough onshore to offload their supplies... because the Japanese had erected extensive thick-bamboo walls filled with sand and other materials to impede any landing operations. Fortunately!... these same walls were instrumental in saving the already landed marines from getting slaughtered on the beach-heads.
***In future landing operations... these self-propelled "Tracked-Landing-Craft" were outfitted with two front-mounted 50 caliber and two... one on each side,,, side-mounted 50 caliber machine-guns as well as a built-in_ mounted "Artillery-Gun". These modified Amphibious Tracked landing Craft then also became the main delivery system used to transport marines to the ' Beach-Heads'... in future landing operations.
Also battles like Guadalcanal could be many different scenarios with multiple naval engagements and japanese counterattacks. (Yes!!!... such as a Japanese "Night-Assault"... in which the Japanese Soldiers crawled on their bellies to make them very difficult to put out of action... as they crept forward toward the Marines location... they did so in mass overwhelming numbers... so much so... that the Marines were just nearly unable to hold out!.)
A japanese grand campaign could also be really interesting in the future as well. (I hope and expect that... that will actually happen... and as-well if it were at all possible... i would like to be able to have a... "Self-Directed-Campaign"... where i would directly-direct the strategies and operations myself!... although i don't think that the "Gaming-Technology"... is up to "The-Demanding-Task" of carrying out that assignment as of this point in time.)
Was always disappointed that Order of Battle never even did a grand campaign for the pacific.

Re: Pestering devs for news
The lack of information or contact with the devs is one reason i reduced my forum times a lot. It seems that TeaTimes and The Newsroom have vanished aswell.

I think what might help is if some "Volunteers" from the "Forum Community" could be used as "liaisons"... (communication or cooperation which facilitates a close working relationship between people or organizations).
This way our team-members could have 'Regular-Scheduled-Contact' with those individuals who are in the development effort to get the information that we want to be informed and updated about... . These "Liaisons" would also be available to answer any questions posed to them to the best of their current understanding's... and if not able to at that particular moment... to then get back to us when they can be better informed or updated themselves!.

That sounds more like entitlement than anything useful. What makes you think that you somehow deserve to know specific things, or that the developers or publisher have a need to keep you informed on stuff YOU want to know about? That's not how any developer, studio or even company works. Your demands have nothing to do with marketing or keeping up interest in the game either.Retributarr wrote: ↑Fri Jan 13, 2023 5:13 amI think what might help is if some "Volunteers" from the "Forum Community" could be used as "liaisons"... There is no one doing any evil scheming to keep information out of your hands. If they have something to tell, they will do so, they have no reason not to. Like any other developer. That's how developing and releasing stuff works. You develop something, you plan for a release, you plan for what information you can give at a specific time, and you market the release when the appropriate time has arrived. This is their money they are spending, not yours. If developers need outside input, they will specifically ask for it (like with beta-tests).
I have yet to see another place where a bunch of fans make such demands again and again and again. And on such short timeframes to boot. PC2 sees DLCs at a very rapid pace compared to most strategy games, yet somehow if there is no news for 8 weeks the doom-patrol arrives to wonder what has gone wrong now. Just let them develop stuff, the game won't run away, nor will they wait with giving information until the day before the next release drops either.

It's-True!... the "Developers do not have to tell us anything"... But!!!... by being so "tight-lipped" about "Game-Detail-Disclosures"... they undermine the "Morale" of those who love this "Game". It then results in a distancing or a resentment of the "Fan-Base-Loyalty"... for the makers of the Game and the Game itself. Just look at the "Forums" lately... there is "Little-To-No-Activity!". Is that because the "Fan-Base" is "Ecstatic" about being kept-in-the-Dark?... do you really believe that?... that they are happy to be kept "Entirely-Out-Of-The-Loop!". To me... it is 'Overwhelmingly-Obvious' what the problem is... the "Dismal-Activity" in the "Forum" is a "Glaring-Barometer" or result of that kind of lacking of an information-support-effort!.

I dont want or expect anything. I would appreciate more communication and more contact. And that is nothing uncommon or new. Because it worked. If you had asked me 1 year ago, i would have said that slitherine got a real nice communication with their custormers.
Now there is not much contact or information left. That is not just related to pc2.
want some examples ?
- FGII died silently, on steam forums there was the news that the game wont get any more dlcs
- MOM there is a roadmap and beta stuff out there, nothing here. i mean we are stil in the "honeymoon" release phase of that game, nothing from the devs here
- Battlesector last official team post is nearly 10 month old
and so on. there are some announced games im interested in. there are some good questions and so on. but silence.
its not about "secret informations" its about contact with their players. and yes i miss stuff like teatime or the newsroom shorts.
im really thankful that Pat is still posting here, but hearing from him that "the devs of pc2 only show up after a release" was kinda destroying. It shows some disrespect in my opinion. it feels like "oh we want to sell our stuff, so we fullfill the tiresome duty of showing up after a release" (thats my words - not Pats). and im aware that this is my problem.
but the main question stays the same, why should i spend a lot of time in these forums, if i have to visit 20 diffrent discords/steam forums for some contact and informations the diffrent devs teams offer there ? i mean that has nothing to do with "secret stuff".
mabybe im a bit naive but i was expecting that all stuff the diffrent dev teams offer on their discords or steam forums or hwatever forums could be found here aswell...
and yes, i play a lot of slitherine games and enjoy them, but my favorite is pc2. so the latest news were quite sad for me.
and i mean most users here stay polite and friendly. the majority of pc2 players now have to suffer because some ppl misbehaved...
now at some point 1945 will be released and there are some questions that could be answered without offering secret informations or some internal stuff. and no i dont mean the release date.
