Oh, in your case the scoring probably only chows correctly when the game is loaded by the other player, it gives some confusion to other players as well. Your plusses will only show up after the other player played its turn (my best guess) .

Yes, the silver are one point a piece but if you don't have it and your opponent has it the difference is 2 points per turn per silver flag, that adds up quickly.

I'd just like an opponent who played. Not a peep out of mine since before Xmas and I'm becalmed on turn 3 :(

I just received another 'multiple turn download warning', that's the first one this game and the third one this tournament and all three were not true. Does this happen to anyone else or is it just me? Why has no one associated with Matrix/Slitherine addressed this problem or at least acknowledged that there might be a problem and that someone is trying to figure it out.

I never had this warning. Twice in my career I had to restart Field of Glory and once Panzer Corps 2 during crashes but never ever received a warning. Hope it's easy to resolve and not a creepy virus bot thing on your local computer.

Hi,

You might want to get in touch with support@slitherine.co.uk about this. From looking at the logs for Caen and Island Hopping, I can see several instances where you've ended up downloading games multiple times in quick succession. Given the rapidity of the downloads, I'd guess at either internet timeouts or that you are re-downloading in order to re-watch the previous user's replays multiple times?

If the latter, then that is going to be flagged by the system as suspicious I'm afraid as we don't know whether you are just trying to view the replay or searching for ambushes or reloading to avoid bad dice.

I have discovered what appears to be a major issue with multiplayer. The Connection Error already discussed above continues to occur sporadically, twice in each of the first and second rounds and now once so far in the third. One of the first round occurrences and now the third round occurrence was not eventually auto resolved.

While clinking on various options waiting in vain for the issue to resolve, I clicked on the Force button and the unit list for my opponent came up. I'm sure you can all agree that seeing a full list of your opponents units is a major problem. I have tried to upload a picture but it appears it is not possible for me.

And after half an hour without the turn uploading I exited to the menu at which point a message popped up that said I was no longer logged in. When logging in again, I had to replay the turn all over again.

Twice today I got this message (I've reported this earlier), along with a few good, old connection errors.

Does this message mean that you guys are performing maintenance of the server?
Just curious as it would explain why mp is iffy at times.

Oh boy... are you saying that if I hit the button to restart the turn review that that will be tagged as a re-download? If that's the case, I guess I can expect more download warnings in the future. As long as there is no consequence, I'll ignore all future warnings.

Thanks for the help Shards.

Bobster66: Although I am not playing in the current tournament, I have experienced a similar occurrence in MP as you have described. It was quite some time ago, and so I don't remember the specifics. I somehow found myself as if I was in control of my opponent's units. I thought, "This is weird." Since my opponent is an acquaintance of mine, I thought I'd play the turn out using his units and then tell him about it and we'd have a good laugh. I thought of surrendering, or botching up his plan. However, I couldn't actually control his units -- I could just see them as if they were mine. Don't remember how I got out of it -- probably just hit "End Turn." Everything went back to normal next time I logged in as myself. Since it was too long ago to remember specifics, I can't really address your situation, but if nothing else, you now know that you're not alone in The Twilight Zone!

Given that the system has a threshold at which it would recommend a ban, I wouldn't encourage ignorance...

I will investigate into whether hitting restart on the replay would trigger a redownload though

Ooo Referee!!!

AH well at least I now have an excuse for my less than stellar performance against Bobster66 so far this round

Seriously though, especially since this is evidenced by redbird as not being a oneoff, this glitch really needs sorting as it could give a significant initial unfair advantage (don't worry Bobster66 I'm not taking any umbrage with you!). Is it tied up to these reported server problems (I guess it might make sense)? I have had a couple of times this tournament where I completed a turn, logged out, and then came back later to find it had reverted to unplayed. At first I thought I must have been making some mistake but this would imply it could be all related?

Hi Netballman!

Yeah, seeing the opponents force pool is messed up, even though their location is unknown if behind the fog of war. The problem definitely appears to be tied to the server problems as the force pool was only viewable after the Connection Error message popped up.

But I think replaying a turn has a greater opportunity for abuse. Thankfully OOB doesn't have the crazy RNG spread that Panzer Corp has so I just replayed the exact same moves as on the first attempt and the results were the same. However, I can imagine an unscrupulous player doing things differently if they didn't like the results of the first attempt.

And thank you for the quick turnarounds! This is only my third tournament but half of all the match-ups I've had so far timed out due to slow opponents. Although on the other hand, I've never been so stressed playing this game before...

Hey Bobster,

No worries and yes, I repeated my turn as best as I was able (including running into a minefield like an idiot, now there's honesty for ya ;) ) but you are probably right that it can be more (actively) open to abuse. Likewise appreciate a keene opponent after I too had two dropouts in the first round of this one. Apologies in advance as I may be a little lax tomorrow as we're having belated Xmas - our (grown-up) kids were all working over real Xmas and this was the best time for them all to be able to be off. so they're all here for the day tomorrow for the whole caboodle, presents, dinner, party games, and I'm feeling even more christmassy than I did in December! :)

Despite the glitches, it's great to be having a good game with strong opposition, thank you! Surely the stress (which I am sharing) is all part of the fun? :D At least the swiss system is one part of tournament play which is working as it should! I 'hope I've given you some new stresses with the latest turn :)

See you back in the field shortly :)
