The "best" army without summons and why ?

Post by Bee1976 »

Hi all,

im trying out a lot, but im still not sure whats good army composition for lategame defence/offence considering combat value.

Right now, if i could choose, my def army would contain:
2 airships from the draconians
3 bugs from the klackons as melee
2 mages from the high elves
and 2 nightmares from the dark-elves

but im pretty sure there are better compositions and/or units.

so what would you all use for a max fexible defensive army without summons or heros ?

€dit:
i hevent found a unit comparison page so far, so maybe my army sucks a little :D

I would be hard pressed not to have a couple of Paladins in 'my army'. :)

Depends on for what exactly. With these damned towers, the most important thing is either Regeneration or Magic Immunity.

But other than attacking capitals I've long thought that about the best general army in Classic is 4 Doom Drakes with 5 Air Ships. In this version I'd say maybe 2 Doom Drakes and 7 Air Ships. Doom Drakes of course with endurance on them, along with whatever other buffs. You can also mix in Drac Shamen and Bowmen if you don't mind slowing down the stack.

What I often go with if I play Drac is 3 Doom Drakes, 3 Bowmen, 3 Shamen in the early/mid game, assuming I have Adamant Bowmen.

For Capitals its easily flying Paladins, or if you have Wind Walking (cause why wouldn't you if you have Flight?) then throw in some War Trolls and Troll Shamen to heal the Paladins. Like maybe 3 Paladins, 3 War Trolls and 3 Shamen.

But yeah, for Capitals you need either Regen or MI.

Having magic immunity is quite nice...for starters.
