Units that start the scenario on the map can switch without problem from unsupported transports back, while those that are spawned by trigger effect unfortunately still can't. This is possibly rather a mod-compatibility issue, but as the Spawn Unit trigger effect theoretically allows to select every transport no matter if supported or not, this could also cause trouble if the scenario designer has no idea about the support.
You can see on an example how this looks like if a towed arty is spawned with an unsupported transport on the flag while the lower one already started the map with the same unsupported transport. Note that this 75mm pack howitzer is modified not to allow the M3 halftrack as transport.

Not fixed in 9.2.4!
To summarize it again:
if you use a gameplay mod that has different transport support for units, vanilla maps that spawn units with mod-unsupported transport by trigger can cause this sad unswitchable issue, like towed guns and infantry being stuck in transports.
I don't get it why it's no issue if units with mod-unsupported transports are preplaced on the scenario map, but I guess I should be lucky.

I wish the editor would prevent adding a transport to a spawned unit if it is not supported in the units.csv.
It would help the scenario designer.

Erik, true. The attached transport to the trigger can be of any kind and faction, so it doesn't really have to be an "amateurish" mod that messes this up.
There is no need to check for valid transports on triggers for sake of customization freedom - just the fix of this unfortunate switch issue is needed.
