Panzer Corps 2: Axis Operations 1944 is out now
The war on the Eastern Front has reached fever pitch.
Wehrmacht forces across the Eastern Front find themselves under immense pressure from a resurgent Red Army.
Caught between directives to maintain full control of the vast territories they have conquered and the desperate struggle to survive against increasingly strengthening Soviet armies, German forces are stretched to their limits.
But an inevitable Axis decline is not the only path that lies before you in this Panzer Corps 2 Campaign DLC.
We are delighted to announce that Panzer Corps 2: Operations Axis 1944 is the first DLC to offer two entire campaigns that are completely separate and independent from one another.
In the historical campaign, prepare to face the brutal realities of the decline of the German Wehrmacht as it struggles to survive the Allied onslaught battering it from all directions.
In the ahistorical campaign, continue your success that has secured the Caucasus region for Germany as you defend your extensive conquests from both familiar and also totally new challenges.
To give players the most freedom of choice, both campaigns are immediately available for all players to begin.
There are no prerequisites or barriers to launching either campaign. Newly formed Panzer Corps or deeply imported forces have equal choice in which campaign path to pursue and explore.
Like all previous DLCs, Panzer Corps 2: Axis Operations - 1944 also adds 20 new scenarios and a new set of objectives, classified as Elite Objective.
Tune in today on our Slitherine Twitch Channel at 21:00 GMT where Hexaboo will show you the new DLC.

Re: Panzer Corps 2: Axis Operations 1944 is out now
Sorry to say but from my point of view AO 1944 is the weakest AO DLC released till now. Herrlingen isn't really a scenario and the created Rommel story weird crap.
The historical path is also not really exciting. Why the useless battle of Cernauti when Minsk is the main battle, but I can't command my own army? Only aircraft again, but I can only deploy them on my 1 turn? Why? Minsk was the first scenario i used runany Victory 0 to end the scenario.
Of course, I will buy AO 1945, because I love the concept of the game, and I am sure that there will be at least 2 or 4 excellent 1944 mods, but let us command our own army in the main campaign of the game.

Some feedback from me
general stuff:
- I think the price is too low. In other games simple cosmetics i.e. a pet in an mmo are same priced like this DLC. But ofc this DLC contains more work in it.
- It felt short, but yes this was expectable. But i "warmed up" and it was over again. I can only repeat myself, i would be willing to buy 2 DLCs per year of the war
- The storytelling is nice. Some ideas worked well (for me) like the minsk-offensive and the mission before. Im pretty sure i wont ever play this again without skipping, but "watching" and desperatly trying to survive Bagration was a painful but funny experience.
Other stuff didnt worked well for me. Like Herlingen. But hey tastes differ.
I still dream of a wargame on the rules of PC or PC2 with its strategic depth and the tons of diffrent units, but completly outside of the bonds of historical correctness or the bonds of staying "in canon" for some franchise. But with this storytelling.....would be great.
----------------------------------------------------------------
positive stuff:
- some real cool battles
- storytelling
- a "real" ahistoricial part
- some elite objectives are really fun to play and some of them are ereally challenging
- i really really really enjoyed the idea how the ahistorical path played out. that surprised me in a positive way. I mean i would hve never expcted those theatres of war
negative stuff:
- too short on each path; remove the Herrlingen and the two optional battles from the ahsistorical path and it feels really really short with only 7 missions left. I mean i always try to build cool and balanced core forces, but in 44 it feels like there is no need for it. i barely used it
- AI behavior of the axis AI is awkward. I mean i cleared all the way up for my allies for Rommel, so all he had to do is "taking the airfields in the north" but AI simply stopped moving forward, so no airfields for me and no elite objective.
- Enemy airforce feels too weak on both pathes. With some well placed strategic Anti-Air its not a real threat
- just a bad feeling, but the war is soon over now. On the ahistorical path we havent achived anything. red army is still strong and active, great brittain is still active and the US is still active aswell. If AO45 will contain again 10 missions fpr the ahistorical part, im afraid winning the war will be rushed or we will face something like "ok you have beaten the soviet army and now gb and the USA want piece treaties".
wishes for AO45:
- i would like to see more "Elite objectives" or even Elite Missions (like sea lion, but even more difficult) as optional battles. I would love to face something like "minsk" with my coreforce(s)
- more options to tune difficulty (levers for some challenges, mabye new traits or challenges)
- some infantry tuning pls. outside of close combat tiles, infantry is way to weak vs hard targets.
€dit:
I forgot something in my "wishlist"
I would really like a recon special hero, i mean there were "Ritterkreuzträger" in recon units. There are so many infantry and aircraft heros....pls at least 1 real hero for a recon
oh and maybe a real Strat-bomber hero aswell

I am after 3 missions from ahistorical, nice dlc so far. Germans, UK and Soviets get new units, but for Lowe, Panther ii, and Centurion have old models; Lowe (Tiger II model), Panther II (Panther G model) and Centurion I and II (comet model). Are will be added new models for them?

The objective is considered as done when you finish the main objective with all depots alive.spw wrote: ↑Sun Nov 13, 2022 9:27 am Hello, i cant get any bonus points for securing these depots in 2nd non historical mission . Ok thx ! But i didnt get any bonus points. Or do i have more supplies in future scenarios then?
I also decided to keep my prestige and not cut it down to 9000 smthg.

There should be a message box telling you you get 1 CP for securing the supply dumps. Check this topic for a whole list. https://www.slitherine.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=101173
Re: Panzer Corps 2: Axis Operations 1944 is out now
Hi, right now i have played only a non-historical campaign and i want to share my opinion with you
First of all i want to thank you for your hard work and giving us another axis dlc, which give me a lot od fun. I really loved the idea of reppelling allied invasion from asia into caucas, capturing their stockpiles od equipment and airborne mission in Persia. That was really great. I also liked building fortifications and fighting soviet assault while having plenty of partisans and paratroopers behind your line in forests - pretty annoing and awesome. Also elite quest where great and pls give them more
But i cant resist feeling that since ao43 there is a lot of things which could be done better
First of all lenght of campaign - we trully recieved 9 missions, cause one was for 5 minutes where you couldnt do anything, just reading the text. Second thing for me was idea of falling finnland, really to hasty, cause it could be excellent place for side mission with your aircrafts and even paratroopers or a few of other land units. Why we didnt recieve any side mission in ao43 and 44 on finnland front, where for example cutting off murmansk ports would be collosal blow for land lease program. Last thing is panzershreck mission, when we had to kill quietly miklos general and give hungarian forces supplies to continue war- that was description off mission in briefing. It was so covert mission that i had to kill half of the hungarian army on the map to achieve this what is pathetix. So idea great, but solution really bad.
Sorry for my language and i hope that it will help you improve your game

Re: Panzer Corps 2: Axis Operations 1944 is out now
Yes indeed, in the historical part you also have to fight your allies in some missions. Its hard to put it into the game, on the one side you need an enemy that can hold up your core army, on the other it is hilarious that you have to kill huge armies to keep this nations on your side.
But you cant fight 10 missions all the time vs russia, 1942/1943 already got repititive in some ways and how could you explain russian progress in war, when you defeat them all the time?
We already had some scenarios in in finland in former DLCs, I can understand why we dont get this again.
Re: Panzer Corps 2: Axis Operations 1944 is out now
Okey, now i see, you are right about those finnish missions, my mistake.
And for repetitive fights with soviet union, what about some side mission on italian front and earlier african? There were plenty of options and aditional possibilities for some side scenario

And i completely agree with that why couldnt we fight again on finnish front

Re: Panzer Corps 2: Axis Operations 1944 is out now
I guess and I hope there will be more DLCs in the future, like Afrika Corps and AO 1943 West and so on...me feeling is the developers get better with every DLCs, so we might expect very nice stuff in the future.
Re: Panzer Corps 2: Axis Operations 1944 is out now
I'd guess the biggest hope for that is that all core export files starting 1941 have "East" in their name. That has to suggest somethingDefiantXYX wrote: ↑Wed Nov 16, 2022 4:42 pmI guess and I hope there will be more DLCs in the future, like Afrika Corps and AO 1943 West and so on...me feeling is the developers get better with every DLCs, so we might expect very nice stuff in the future.
