In the saves which you've provided unit table seems to be coming from a mod. This might be related to the problem which we are seeing. Do you have any mods active right now (and if yes, which ones)? Did you use any mods in the past (and if yes, which ones)?
I am using the following mods:

- Infantry Overhaul - R2G2
- Towed Anti-Tank Overhaul - R2G2
- Air Recon Double Move - R2G2
- German Tank Overhaul - R2G2
- New Units Pack - R2G2
- Vehicle Movement Rebalance - R2G2
- Ranged Destroyers - R2G2

I have had these mods active for about a year now, and played through the main campaign and Axis Operations, including AO1942 and AO1943, without issue. I'll de-activate them and see if that solves the problem.

Even with every mod deactivated, I still get the same crash when I try to load any saves or autosaves starting at Riga 1944. Everything before that loads just fine.

And again, even with the aforementioned mods active, I was able to play through Riga, Herrlingen, and start Lvov 1944 without an issue, as long as I didn't try to load saves of those missions.

Update: this morning when I start at autosave turn 31 for normandy, It loads and plays normal, but when I try to advance to Riga, I get the crash during the loading screen. This is with and without the mods active

We have an experimental solution which I believe will fix this issue. Could you please try it and report back if it helps or not?

- Open game install folder (for Steam version: in Steam app, right-click Panzer Corps 2, then Properties... -> Local Files -> Browse...

- Go to PanzerCorps2\Content\Graphics\Data subfolder.

- Replace three files there with versions from this zip archive:

If the fix works, we'll deploy it for everyone asap.

It did solve the problem of loading into saves made starting at Riga 1944, I can now load those and play without issue both on the AO1 and AO2 files.

I am still having that new issue of the crash happening when loading into Riga 1944 from the autosave turn 31 file. That problem just reared its head this morning; yesterday I was able to load into Riga from Normandy just fine. Could this be related to the other fix you mentioned earlier?

Changing the names.csv file did not fix the problem. Disabling loaded mods did not correct the issue either

If I remember right, any mod that changed or added a unit unique identifier that is then preserved in a saved core or saved game will generate a crash after a DLC is installed. This is due to the DLC installing a new Units file, overwriting the preexisting one.

My only question on that would be why this issue hasn't popped up before? I played through AO1942 and AO1943 after installing the current mods, and never had an issue. This is on 2 different core armies that i've been using since SCW. I wonder what changed in AO1944 that the earlier DLC's didn't change?

Okay, then it must be some new problem. Is it the same autosave 31 file which you've attached in a post above? It works for me, I can progress from this save to Riga1944 correctly. What error are you seeing? Could you please post the text here?

After the update and after changing the names.csv file, I am still having the same issue moving on to the next level. Loading screen loads, and then crashes right after the screen swipe thing finishes. The save files all load normally now, gameplay is normal, just can't advance. This is affecting the AO1944 levels I have saves for at the moment; Normandy Air, Riga '44, and Lvov '44.

Saves on the main campaign, SCW, AO1942, and AO1943 are unaffected; those function normally and I am able to save, load, play, and progress normally.

Active mods remain the same as they have been. I have not added or removed any.

Okay, I've investigated a bit deeper into autosave 31, and I see that this save includes units both from "Storm over Europe" and "New Units Pack" mods. So, to play from this save without issues, you need to have both mods installed and active.

That seems to have done the trick. I didn't even realize I had "Storm over Europe" before :lol: must've downloaded it, never played, and then removed it. Weird that everything else worked but not AO1944 though.

Where are the save files located? Is it under the Panzer Corps 2 dir or is it saved somewhere else?

would Heroes added via Cheat NewHero cause a crash problem? I've added new Heroes but no Mods. don't know how to install Mods but am definitely interested in what the above mentioned Mods do? also I play with the one additional Hero per unit option so 4 max on any unit.

In 1.5.5 "cheat NewHero" could trigger a random crash connected to generating heroes. This issue has been fixed in 1.5.6. Right now I'm not aware of any issues related to "cheat NewHero". In fact, while testing 1.5.6 update, I invoked this command myself a few hundred times.

If you have version 1.5.6 displayed in the main menu (at the bottom of the screen) and you are still getting a crash when using "cheat NewHero", then I need to investigate further into this. For starters, please post the text from the crash report here.
