Oath of Frailty has arrived.
I have though spotted a few (let's say) oddities:
The Later Welsh are given Early Plantagenet English allies and the Late Byzantines (in Eternal Empires) are given Sicilian allies, but neither of these ally lists exist.
The Feudal Navarrese and Aragonese are allowed Feudal French allies at any date, which if taken literally would allow them to take knights as early as 1035.
The Italian Feudal ally list can never take the maximum 6 Scutiferi LH as it is limited to 8 mounted and has a minimum of 4 Feudal Knights at all dates.
It is unclear whether the Catalans' and Fanatic Berbers' Taifa allies can include troops specific to a named Taifa (Seville, Murcia, Zaragoza or Valencia) or only those common to all Taifas.
Similarly, whose Feudal German allies are allowed to be Southern/Eastern and thus take Slav Foot?
and finally, Early Anglo-Irish; Knights and Vikings and Longbowmen;
METAL

Edit: Just checked Eternal Empire. It's actually Epirots getting an Angevin ally, that makes more sense. I just wonder if the Sicilian fit that bill. It seems rather likely to me that those allied troops were not simply from the Angevin possesions in Latin Greece and hence already covered by that ally.
Pending further research though.
Hmm, don't have the book yet, but my final draft has the Scutiferi in a seperate line from the Knights, so they are not limited by that maximum.LambertSimnel wrote: The Italian Feudal ally list can never take the maximum 6 Scutiferi LH as it is limited to 8 mounted and has a minimum of 4 Feudal Knights at all dates.
Good spot, Feudal Polish should be able to get an eastern/souther Feudal German ally, Early Medieval Frisia and other Free Cantons should not. Otherwise I think only the Imperial and Feudal German lists can have a Feudel German Ally and it's a bit difficult do define it for them, so they basically always can.LambertSimnel wrote: Similarly, whose Feudal German allies are allowed to be Southern/Eastern and thus take Slav Foot?
Since the LB's you get at the same time as Vikings are no swordsmen and unprotected I'm not sure if it's a hot combo.LambertSimnel wrote: and finally, Early Anglo-Irish; Knights and Vikings and Longbowmen

I don't care whether it is a hot combo or not. The fact remains that it is totally metal. This is the sort of army that Slayer would play.Ghaznavid wrote:LambertSimnel wrote:

I don't think it would be hard to find suitable figures in plastic (for 20 mm scale).LambertSimnel wrote:Ghaznavid wrote:I don't care whether it is a hot combo or not. The fact remains that it is totally metal. This is the sort of army that Slayer would play.LambertSimnel wrote:

Its a nice looking book (fat, lots of pictures, good value from Amazon compared to the others) but there seems an awful lot of very similar lists in it.CLAVDIVS wrote:Very Godd Day Foger's![]()

Well it's a book that fills in a gap and covers a period/region where military development was mostly evolution, not revolution. So expecting fundamentally new armies is probably the wrong mindset to start with (you might be better served with Blood & Gold in that regard). I admit we also failed to include an army with lots of drilled, armoured infantry in BGs of 4's.madaxeman wrote:Its a nice looking book (fat, lots of pictures, good value from Amazon compared to the others) but there seems an awful lot of very similar lists in it.

Personally I rather like the Later Scilians, they just seem a very interesting mix. Although I expect they aren't going to be tournament tigers, given the archers are neither equipped for melee nor superior. Of course I'm a bit biased as I always found Friedrich II a fascinating character (not to mention me being largely responsible for the list as is).
Early Crown of Aragon also looks nice, an army that can field that many Almughavars can't be half bad!

Also, I don't think any previous list can do 8 Superior Drilled Knights plus masses of LH in the way that the Feudal Castillian and Early Granadine lists can.Ghaznavid wrote:Well it's a book that fills in a gap and covers a period/region where military development was mostly evolution, not revolution. and 16 Welsh LF Longbowmen are something out of the ordinary
