1944 Engine Crash

Anyone else having an issue with the unreal engine crashing when trying to load the alt-hist Riga map (the one after Persia)? Game was working perfectly through the first few missions, loaded the Riga mission just fine, but I forgot to re-add a halftrack to one of my infantry units so I went to open my saved game and it started giving me this error every time I load, whether from the actual save file, or from the 'autosave turn 1' file

Just to add: The rest of the game works fine. I can load scenarios, save games from older DLC's, etc... just fine

Hmm this is a very weird problem. Could you please attach one of the saved games which are giving this problem? I'll try to repro on my end.

Yeah I can do that, where can I grab those files (I have the game on Steam)?

On a related note: I reloaded the autosave turn 31 from the previous mission (Normandy Air) and it loaded and played just fine. Went through the loading screen, Riga 1944 loaded just fine. So I saved the game under a different name, and exited to main menu. When I went to load the new save, I had the same crash. As soon as the loading screen finishes, the game crashes, but only on Riga '44.

In all versions, including Steam, saves are located in [Documents]/My Games/Panzer Corps 2/Saves. You just need to post the .sav file (no need for the corresponding jpg image).

It says invalid file extension when I try to post. Is there a specific way to attach them?

Ah! In that case, please try to compress it with zip before attaching. Hopefully, the forum accepts the well-known zip format.

- AO1 = the original file I was using
- AO2 = the save file from reloading 'Autosave Turn 31'
- Autosave = the autosave file mentioned above

Well, i have a crash Problem after "Operation Corridor" aswell.

No matter if i want to play the Paratrooper Mission in the outskirts of Theran or the "air only" mission if i dont play the Paratrooper Mission game crashes.

When I played through from the previous mission autosave, I was able to play Riga '44, Rommel, and Lvov without an issue. However, once I saved the start of Lvov and attempted to restart with the save file, I got the same crash.

It started once I hit Riga '44. Before that level, I had / have no issues with loading save games

I skipped the paratrooper mission (due to lack of experienced Fallschirmjager units), but played the Normandy air-only mission without a problem.

its maybe a hero combination thing

if i start a new campaign without importing a coreforce and use the "runany victory 0" cheat i can chose the paratrooper mission without any problems and it will be loaded

i imported another coreforce, used the runany vic cheat, and again with this coreforce i was able to choose and play the paratrooper mission.


i will try to play for real with that coreforce, hopefully its just my old core that doesnt work

I used the core I've been using since SCW and no cheats. Normandy is the last level that I can work with normally. For whatever reason the issue is only affecting my save loads during and after Riga. Gameplay and loading starting at Riga is normal if I play straight through without stopping.

Thanks for the saves. I can confirm that they crash for me when I load them. Still not clear what's wrong with them except that it's somehow related to the model of Partisan unit (for some reason it is empty). I'll continue investigating tomorrow, and will keep you updated.

That's strange. When I play through the level, the Partisan units are there and seem to function normally (other than being almost as tough as the SU Paratroops to defeat). Sounds good, appreciate the help

I have no problem starting a round or mission on the historical path but if I load a auto save of a previous turn it crashes. No issues if I save and then go to main menu and reload the save. Only when I load a save for a turn that I have already finished.
So save at turn 3 exit game and can then play turn 3 but if I load turn 2 it crashes

In the saves which you've provided unit table seems to be coming from a mod. This might be related to the problem which we are seeing. Do you have any mods active right now (and if yes, which ones)? Did you use any mods in the past (and if yes, which ones)?
