angusosborne (Umbrian) defeats ZeCid (Etruscan) 51-21

Our battlefield is a mountain pass with a good defensive position for the Umbrians with hills and some patches of rough going to defend. The Etruscans brought lots of light foot (no medium foot in that army) and had the better of the start of the battle, but the Umbrians had numbers on their side (19,000 vs 14,000) and the Italian foot which makes up a lot of the army stood up adequately. The superior numbers really paid off and by the end the Etruscans only had two steady units of heavy infantry left.

How have you rated new players this season? I had thought you would use TDC?

I looked at past competitions and estimated a value.

That is still a bit vague. When you consider you are 1st in TDC and by my quick calculations, first in the Slitherine tournaments. How did you estimate value, exactly please.

You gave me a 7.65 rating on my first entry into HOML. I won more games than I lost in the first season and scored more points than all other players in my division and yet I dropped to 6.80.

The only wat that could happen is your formula takes into account the ratings of each player. If that is the case as you are on a 6, there is a VG chance you'll be in on a 7.00 at the end of HOML 3. What is your formula? It would be interesting to compare with TDC's. I think there may well be a way to convert HOML scores into TDC. Although TDC's does take into account ratings between players

I get you don't agree with the some aspects of rating points, I don't claim it is perfect and I will be fine tuning it for next season. However it is only a mechanism for organising players into divisions and doesn't effect their score.

What information? How have you given yourself a 6.00? I accept the scoring systems, never said I didn't. I just think it is wrong that you have given yourself a 6.00. It means that you will score better than you really should do. That to me is wrong and dare I say slightly unfair TC, which is very surprising.
