Arriving in Lybia exhausted !!

Post by Herr_Armin »

Hello ,
Every time i get there i almost have no more prestige points left though my army is intact with lots of stars . By the time i get to battle 2 i'm left with 300 prestige points and few strengths left for each unit usually down to to 2-3 average with 300 prestige points left to distribute . No chance whatsoever . Can you please give me tips on how to have at least 2500 points when i get to Africa to be used to upgrade and purchases . i have lots of available slots for that . i am playing level 2 .

Use support fire to reduce casualties, don't use tanks in or to attack enemies in close terrain, try to do as many captures as possible. Having problem with prestige in normal difficulty could only mean that there are things that goes terribly wrong in your army management.

so more artillery , tanks only in open terrain tank to tank or artillery pieces , is it worth using prestige with fighters and dive bombers ?

Use Pioneers (military engineers) for close combat, Gebirgsjaeger (mountain infantry) for close combat in mountainous areas. Flame tanks only works well when you have a No Retaliation hero on it to prevent it from taking too much losses itself. Close Combat uses the Close Defense status instead of normal Ground Defense, you can check that when purchasing something, or use 4 key to open unit status panel in a scenario for units on the map.

Don't forget AT and AAs, not all arty provides AT support in PzC 2 if your mind is still in PzC 1. And if that's the case, you'd better go through the manual in game folder before progressing, it explains the changes you have to pay attention to.

You need every type of units to win a war, so of course you have to have fighters to clear the sky and tactical bombers to blow ground targets up (Close Air Support, or CAS as a military term).

Some tactical bomers with AA value are heavy fighters/fighter-bombers historically and might be used to participate in air combat also, but remember that these units have lower Initiative than formal fighters and thus does not fit a head-on attack on full-strength fighters because fighters will shoot them first, so better as finisher and bomber-hunter units.

Strategical bombers are for anti-shipping and siege, so it is also a different thing from tactical ones.

Above all, when it comes to air, DON'T SEND BOMBERS WITHOUT FIGHTER ESCORTS unless you are sure the sky is clear.

"Herr_Armin"... Open your 'Chat-Window' at the 'Top-Left' corner of your 'Game-Screen'... and at the bottom of it put in or type in the phrase...

setany prestige [Quantity?... its up to you] ... i like... 100000
setany prestige 100000
***Dont forget to Click 'Send'***

Then!... you should no-longer have any issues with 'Prestige'!.

Here is a recent thread that covers key differences between PzC1 and PzC2: https://www.slitherine.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=110390

To make a long story short, you need to incorporate every class of unit in your core in PzC2. AT and AA in particular are far more important than they were in PzC1.

May be it is the army mix (together with the strategy) which could be improved in the battles before Lybia?
As an example the type of army balance I had when starting in Lybia (my positive trait was Infantry General):
Infantry : 7 (2 Pionier, 2 Grenadier, 3 Wehr Inf),
Panzer : 4 (Type IIIH which are best against enemy tanks),
Reco : 2 ( SdKfz 231 & SdKfz 232 when near an enemy, increase your chance to hit him with another attacking unit),
Artillery ; 4 (3 x 15 cm which protect your units against tanks and Infantry, a 21 cm for the range and the strength),
Flak : 2 ( 1 Flakvierling, 1 SdKfz 7/1)
Fighters : 3 Bf 109F
Tactical Bomber : 2 (Bf 110D and Ju 87B)
Aerial Reco : 1 Fi 156 Storch
Strategic bomber : 1 He 111H2

No if you don't use cheat codes or have one very specific function that only showed up once in the defeat path from eastern front as far as I can remember.

The only way to increase your slots without using cheat codes is to get a lot of "Zero or Reduced Slots" Hero's. I'm playing a game now where I got lucky with those Hero's and I have about 5 different Artillery, overstength to the max using Zero slots for all of them.

Use 3, at most 4, engineers and drop the other infantry. Throw in 1-2 more recons and 1-2 more flak.
Maybe switch the strat bomber for a tactical

Drop infantry general trait and take slow modernization and the Power Four( Master of Blitzkrieg, Flexible Command, Deadly Grasp and Perimeter Control) to make capturing much easier. Capturing units is what really generates prestige

the way capturing units and prestige is handled is what is ruining it and making prestige totaly obsolete.
i only play with ruthless to prevent this drama of 8761235876123459 prestige after a campaign.
