AV - Race to Berlin Unwinnable?

Post by uncajerf »

Can someone explain to me the concept of this scenario?

I assumed(!) that getting into conflict with the Soviets would require some kind of trigger, but suddenly they're just attacking me when I take an airfield.

Turns out I can attack them at whim too, but why would I want to? They have VASTLY superior forces, and if this continues, I don't see how I have a chance here.

Am I missing something? Will I get reinforcements if I play on a little longer? As it stands the scen. is simply NO FUN, as I don't see any way to win.

Comments?

Eminently winnable.

First off, the Russians are active and will attack you as you have the same objectives. Trick is to not over extend and worry about the Germans at your front line. Then let the Russians beat down the Germans at the objectives, both will batter themselves, then you move in and mop up, taking objectives once the Germans are severely weakened.

Also, you have better air, or should have by this time. Trash the Russian artillery and their bombers. Try to cut-off Russians that over extend.

The airfield in the south is a red rag to a bull for the Russians so don't bother with trying to get it early.

Thanx for the info & video link. However, I wonder what Diff. that game is being played at. It's also obvious that mods are in use (albeit perhaps just skins, and the animations appear odd to me, so maybe they don't affect gameplay). Even so, how in the h3ll did he ever afford three Long Toms?! Not to mention myriad Pershings and whatnot. I have nowhere near a comparable force.

Quite doable. With the amount of RP you are given throughout the DLC you can easily afford whatever you like. Granted, this is medium difficulty, but can't imagine it being impossible in harder difficulties.

I had 3 Long Toms plus the tracked artillery on level 3.

Assuming the prior scenarios are played well you should have sufficient RP left to upgrade and buy better as you progress. If you've run out of RP just restoring damaged units it could be you are being careless with the lives of you soldiers :D
