Old panzer corps guy trying this

Post by Rgonsman »

Everyone,
I am an old panzer corps guy trying to pick this up and having difficulty getting the hang of it. Any threads or guides you can suggest? Thank you!!

On youtube search for EDMON. He has many good vids bout pc2.

He is a mod here too, maybe he can give you some advice.

Biggest change to part one is the supply system. You can cut of whole armys of supply and force them to surrender, which gives you tons of prestige. The problem: you can "create your own supply" that way, so it can become too easy.

Most new systems you can turn off and play like panzer corps one. But not the supply system as far as i know. The difficulty levels arent the only way to make the game more or less difficult. The general traits can make the game very difficult or easy. Want to play without planes or arty ? No problem. Always thought that its too easy to kill digged in infantry, use trenchwar trait.

My actual playthrough is a realism setting: no heroes (with heroes the ww2 units fight like modern ones, kills my ww2 immersion) bad logistics, only green replacements, trenchwar, so the too easy axis op. is more challenging.

Another big change from the original PC is support fire:

(1) AT guns now provide support fire against hard targets. AT units thus went from being fairly useless in PC1 to absolutely essential in PC2, a change that I did not grasp at first. AT guns (or AA guns in AT mode) do not provide support for other AT guns.

(2) Unlike PC1, not all artillery provides support fire against all types of targets. Most artillery provides support fire only against soft targets. Some of the big guns provide support fire only against hard targets. It's important to pay attention to these traits when purchasing and deploying your artillery.

(3) AA guns provide support against any air-to-ground attacks within their range, not just to adjacent units. Deploying an AA gun on high ground will increase its range by one. AA is therefore much more powerful than it was in PC1. (As in PC1, fighters, AT guns, and artillery provide support fire only to adjacent units.)

(4) There are two types of AA guns in PC2. Some, like the 2 cm gun, have the ability to attack using the target's "close defense," a value lower than ground defense. This is a way to simulate low-flying aircraft. Other AA guns (like the 88) do not have this ability. Since low-flying aircraft tend to be the most deadly, AA guns with this ability are very useful, even if their range and air attack values are lower. (And especially when they take up fewer cores slots: for the price of one three-slot 88, you can field three one-slot 2 cm guns.)

(5) AT and artillery support heroes are very useful. For example, you can add an AT hero to a cheap artillery piece so that it protects against both hard and soft targets, or you can add an AT or artillery support hero to a tank, allowing it to do double duty (on the defense) as a self-propelled gun. (The AI sometimes adds these heroes to infantry and aircraft, so pay attention!)

Another change is Planes don't have fuel. They have a range from the airbase and every turn "go back" to that base. Additionally you can spend a turn to rebase them to different airfields. Oh and finally you cant strat bomb airfields to take out the flags. That was a cool feature i wish they had kept.

"Rgonsman"... once you have completed your 'Basic-Training' courses at the "PanzerTruppe"... "PanzerTrakk-Armoured Assault Academy"... you will then very-likely become the 'New-Avenging-Terror of Hell' on the Eastern Front!.

You will have much to learn "Grass-Hopper"... so!... be on your guard... be 'Dead-Sure or... Be-Dead!'.
