Burma Road: Chindit Spoiler?

Post by jakemon »

Can anyone please provide a clue on where to find the elusive Japanese HQ in Burma Road's Scenario 9 "Chindits". I'm exhausted and covered with jungle sores...

It's been a while, but I remember it being located in the south east corner of the map.

I also remember being very easy to destroy, 1 chindit unit is enough.

You can always peek by opening up the scenario in the editor.

Or type shift c and enter #orbitalcommand. This will reveal all units on the map.

Thank you for the suggestions. I launched the console for my first time. The #orbitalcommand worked as advertised, but I couldn't find the HQ. So I played the scenario again thinking it might perhaps spawn if I got close- it didn't. An interesting side effect was my units also became visible to the AI and drew reaction fire where they would normally be hidden. That included a few chases by enemy sniper and ground units.

I also noticed if a Chindit exits in the last movement phase (Turn 40) the scenario ends in defeat. I suppose that's because the turn counter has advanced to Turn 41 when the victory condition is checked. No big deal.

I launched the scenario editor (also my first time) against a scenario copy and noodled around until I found the type of unit that represents the HQ. Back in the game, again using #orbitalcommand, there was my quarry hiding in plain sight. Selecting it with a mouse click shows it is labeled with an additional identification.
