All,
I think I figured a little bit out about the Trigger Timer.
Here's a table for the values listed below to help determine how to set the timer to blow on a certain turn after actuation. It's a function of how many factions there are in a scenario but I can't figure out the logic precisely.
It would be a real drag working with this table for demolition work, but we don't use any live explosives in the game... so it's sufficient to use the Trigger Timer. If you use Starting Value of 1, it is not reliable. I don't trust the timer for 2 factions, so if I had a scenario with two factions, I'd add one faction without units deployed just to be sure the table works.
From left to right: Number of factions, starting value, target value, actuates on (turn indicator after actuation, all started on turn 1)
3 0 5 2
3 0 7 3
3 0 10 4
3 0 13 5
4 0 5 2
4 0 7 3
4 0 9 4
4 0 15 5
2 0 5 3
2 0 7 3
Higher Faction and target value numbers get weird:
5 0 16 5
6 0 16 6
8 0 16 5
8 0 9 3
8 0 25 8
4 0 25 8
3 0 25 7
2 0 13 5
8 0 25 8
Just thought I'd pass this on so that everybody knows now that the Trigger Timer works, but if you get outside these values, you'd better verify before you invest a lot of time in a scenario that might depend on it working properly.

Re: Trigger Timer works -- Predictive Table
Is the trigger timer the worst trigger in OoB? I say yes
Did you reproduce these results in a coherent way or did you only try each once?
Anyway, thanks for you work, coboy. I will try to use this trigger (again
) in some of my nex scens and i let you know if the table worked for me

Carolina, I can't post any pictures now because Hotel internet is all jammed up and I'm doing this on my phone . But what you need to do is set the timer as shown in the tables and have it actuate another trigger. So if you want to blow up a bridge 3 turns after another event
1) have the first event enable the trigger timer
2) have the trigger timer enable the trigger event
3) then the trigger event will actuate
Note that the trigger timer and the actual event that you want to delay must must be turned off until the first event starts the sequence ( click the white button on the trigger definition to turn them off)
Sorry this is the best I can do until some internet comes back up for my laptop at this stupid Hotel. You can probably get it to work if you fool around with it.
LNDavoust: the values in the table were derived by actually observing when the timer activated using those values. They aren't guesswork, they are observed. Hope it serves you well!

I can't make it work. No way. How can be so weirdly convolute to have an in-game timer to just... work? It's a fucking timer.

You're right, it's very convoluted because the timer counts turns for every faction. So, if you have 5 factions, and you want the timer to go off on the next time for faction 1, you have to set it for 6 turns ahead. But it's hard to tell when it starts counting!
Did you set it up like the example using the tables I made? That seems to work for me.

Re: Trigger Timer works -- Predictive Table
I have dropped scenario making for a week to vent out the frustration of a trigger working partially, I might go back to it later. I still don't understand how a trigger could change objectives and show an event, but not fire a dialogue box. Doesn't make sense either.
