Third range hero in a row

Post by PanzerTum »

I recently restarted my GC because I made some bad choices in 39-41.
Now I am starting the Novoanninsky scenario in GC42 so Stalingrad is just around the corner.
Last few scenario's I received two range heros and converted them to 21cm Nebelwerfers which are great.
Now in Voronezh I received a third range hero and am wondering wat to do with him.
A third Nebelwerfer may be a bit too much and I don't like the low ammocount of the Wulfrahmen, especially in cities. So I am considering making it a StuG3B.
Now the SA and HA of the StuG are only average but the ROF is high and a two range StuG could be used more offensively than a one range StuG. Somehow I think I can use that in the Stalingrad scenario's, which I have never played yet so no previous experience.

My thinking is that I will deploy Stugs anyway so in fact I would have one more offensive artillery unit.

Don't underestimate the usefulness of a 17cm or 15cm towed artillery with a range hero. Having 4 range makes it *a lot* easier to suppress enemy AA and Artillery without putting your own Artillery at risk of counter-battery fire. Also, as your line advances, a 4-range artillery will be able to get in more shots before having to be packed up into a vehicle to catch up with your front line

I think it is a 17cm arty at the time. For the next few scenario's I'll leave it as it is, just to see how it performs.
Been reading a lot on ROF and artillery and overstrength so I'll try to use each artillery piece for which it is best suited as well.
Also OS is safer when it is positioned further in the back although AA protection is essential as well then.

definitely go for a 17cm arty, with extra range will be the star of the show.

Stug designed as an assault artillery and not a long range one
