The "Victorious" Tournament

Post by Shards »

Hi,

The next Order of Battle Tournament is now available for sign-ups.

https://www.slitherine.com/tournaments

Called the "Victorious" Tournament, this is themed on the new Allies Victorious DLC release but is open to everyone who has access to Order of Battle multiplayer.

This tournament will be contested on three new maps that have just been added in the 9.2.2 patch update:

Cyrenaica
Libya - January 1942, The Afrika Korps and the Desert Rats face off in a battle to seize vital roads across Cyrenaica.

Caen
France - June 1944, Following D-Day substantial German forces committed to the defence of Caen aim to prevent the Allies from advancing inland quickly.

Cobra
France - July 1944, US forces launch Operation Cobra to break out of Normandy and advance into Brittany.

We look forward to meeting you on the battlefield!

Sorry about that, we had some issues.

Rth's score is physically painful for me! 150 hurts but 190?!

What was the secret route? Because I need to patch that out, that's just a silly score!

hello all,

First i'm sorry i missed the start of the tournament on 10-06. But i'm now acting quickly to catch up the lost time :D at least as fast as i can due to my opponent.

My opponent on first round is Pinkelephantis and he plays just ONE game. I would be honored if he could start the second game  Pinkelephantis, if you read this please start the second game

In the "view scores" we (pinkelephantis and me) are not present although we have one game in turn 4. Maybe because the second game has not started ???

And finally, In the multiplayer list i have another 3 games i can play against kha59. These games are theoretically my second round games (scenario Caen). I don't understand...
Why can i play NOW the second round games ? and why they are 3 with the same opponent ?

Thanks for your answers, i'm a little lost... :(

Hi,

I don't see you on the list of tournament players? Did you actually sign up for the tournament or have you just made some games on PBEM yourself?

I can see the game between you and PinkEl on the server, but it's a standard game, not a tournament game.

I've just talked to the other player and yes, it was a build up then mass drop of paratroops. Dastardly indeed!

Personally, it feels like that should always be defendable against (either by pushing a rapid assault against your opponents depleted forces) or disbanding and redeploying forces back at your bases once you see the aircraft (which should really be 2 turns before they can land). But I guess that it can be highly effective if people do it well.. I'm guessing rth must have captured both bases simultaneously or something to get that score.... I'll have to go and do some testing!

p.s. It is very much something I expect someone to try in Cobra....

The [Tournament Settings] is just part of the map name. Lots of them have it:

If it was a Tournament Game it would have been created by the system and would appear with a trophy in your games list:

If you go to the tournament page itself then I can't see you in the list of players:

Did you get any sort of error or message when you signed up?

Hi
I'm sorry I messed something up.

I think my opponent wasn't very experienced in the game, or he was just unlucky with his chosen strategy.

I captured 3 out of 4 possible HQs.

But not only with paratroopers, also with broken through tanks.
I have never managed to form so many cauldrons. Once even with 10-12 units in the kettle.
I also dropped paratroopers in the middle of the desert to form encirclements, but let the front troops move further towards HQ and didn't clean every encirclement right away.

I've saved the games this time, can publish them if you want (hope I can, I've never done it before).

Sorry for my bad english

Hmm, I'll ask my team if they can see anything in the server logs. It's not great that you weren't able to sign up and I'm sorry that you've missed out!

You've done nothing wrong, rth. What you have done is stress tested my level design to the extreme and showed me that I've not catered for someone performing so well!

The double shame is that your opponent was a new member of the Matrix games staff so you've given them a real hard introduction to the game :) It's a learning experience for them!!!

If you have the replays, I'd love to watch them. You can either upload them to a file sharing service like Dropbox or Google Drive and send me the link or you can just email the files to support@slitherine.co.uk and they'll forward them on to me.

Thanks!

I need help:

in which "folder" do you find the saved repetitions as a file format?

so that I can copy it and pass it on as an attachment to an email

The explanation must also be able to be understood by a person who is not gifted with computer knowledge ... sorry
