.tga masks

Post by StuccoFresco »

I don't know how to properly implement TGA masks to my custom campaigns. Looking at the Spanish Civil War mod, I created several TGA masks and managed to make them show up in some way, but it's a bit of a mess.

The image below shows the result of making three TGA files named Mask3_0 to _2, and the map shows three colors, but it's still a mess.

- I don't know how and why naming them mask3_0 to _2 makes them show up during the first scenario of the campaign. I thought the first number told the game during which scenario should they show up?

- the color overlays are too thick, I can barely see the map below. Is there a way to make the overlays more transparent?

- How can I make the "sea overlay" disappear? I tried to create a completely black mask (mask3_2), thinking the game would leave the sea without an overlay, but it created a black one.

I attached the map and TGA files to the post.

EDIT: it seems I can't attach files, why?

EDIT2: made a dropbox for the TGA and map images -> https://www.dropbox.com/s/0ai4adoivyyst ... p.rar?dl=0

The numbers like X_X refer to the ID in the campaign editor (under branches) and side. So mask_ID_side

Usually the first IDs in the campaign editor are not the actual first scns, but for the victory/defeat branches (IDs 0, 1). Also, if you add or remove scenarios/branches in the cam editor those IDs can go all over the place.

Best is to look them up for a particular campaign by checking branches in the cam editor and make a list. That being said, creating those masks from scratch is still one of the most tedious and annoying tasks, but that's unlikely to change.
