Hi there, recently got FOG2 on sale with the Wolves at the Gate DLC.
I have two questions about whether something is possible:
- Is it possible to choose the AI's army in a custom battle? Specifically I am still learning so I want to try out versus combinations in a more controlled environment.
- Is it possible through modding or vanilla to have any two armies fighting rather than just their 'historical' enemies? Even if this means Macedonians fighting Britons or Byzantines fighting Scots rather than say Macedonians fighting Conquest Arabians.
Thanks in advance!

Go into options and turn on hotseat, set up the enemy army comp, then go into options and turn off hotseat and the AI will take over.LordValentai wrote: ↑Mon Aug 08, 2022 12:55 am - Is it possible to choose the AI's army in a custom battle? Yes. See:- Is it possible through modding or vanilla to have any two armies fighting rather than just their 'historical' enemies? Even if this means Macedonians fighting Britons or Byzantines fighting Scots rather than say Macedonians fighting Conquest Arabians.

Awesome, thank you! I'll check the video out later, but that first tip will be very helpful.

Re: Set AI Army in Custom Battle?
To summarize SnuggleBunnies' second tip (choosing armies that could have never met in real life):
1. Choose the army you want to play as (Side A) - he uses the example of Welsh 600-1049 AD.
2. When choosing the Side B army, unclick both the "Date" and "Geographical" buttons on the right side of the screen, under the section labeled "Side B Army List"
3. This will show you all the armies available to you, depending on which DLCs you own.
By default, the "Date" and "Geographical" buttons are both clicked-in, so that would limit your opponents to those that would have been temporally and physically possible.
If you only unclick "Date" (using the Welsh example above), you'll get to choose among the armies in the British Isles and adjoining areas from all eras, such as Caledonian 50-225 AD or Ancient British 60 BC-80 AD (assuming you have the DLC that has those armies.)
If you only unclick "Geographical", you'll be able to choose armies that existed around the same time as the Welsh 600-1049 AD list, but were so far away that they never met, like Sassanid Persian 591-628 AD or Indian (Rajput) 650-1049 AD (again, assuming you have the DLC that has those armies.)
Hope this helps.
