It was (as final score clearly suggests) an 'pyrrhic victory'
The battlefield was similar to many middle-east/ hispanic battlefields, but still not unplayable for the Low Countries focused on heavy unmanovrable infantry.

It was a very tough, brutal battle... the first part resulted in Murabits destroying a very weak Low Countries left flank, with Camel cavalry and Muslim Cavalry doing the most of the job... on the other side, even if Murabit left flank had the advantage of a small hill, the Keils and Pikemen launched a fast attack and were unstoppable, also against good muslim spearmen (but the veteran spearmen were positioned in the centre)... also the centre was engaged (there was not an option to stay back for enemy missile superiority) with each remaining Keil engaged with 2/3 enemy spearmen (but still no rear attacks)... the fast win on the hilly right flank (enemy left flank) avoided a complete encirclement of the units attacking in the centre , even in some cases on rough terrain... a prolonged infantry attrition battle resulted in spearmen units falling one after the other (but they fought hard many turns)... some units rallied and the enemy cavalry managed to rout a Keil with a rear charge followed by flank charges... then the battle was decided by the first army reaching the breaking point.

This was a well fought game that was in the balance until one of my Superior warbands decided to go crazy and act like they were cavalry, running down the line breaking two units and a light. Well played by Bagatrix1805.

With terrain most horrible, the Huns took the initiative and charged home v the Palmyran infantry. Numbers and shooting took their toll and the Huns decided to return home.

A little late, but what a battle! Two armies standing ahead of each other over desert hills and plains. The ferocity of the Ayyubid knew no bounds, and with their khwarazmian allies the crusaders fought through a hell scape. Arrows slashed the air, and both armies entered into a see saw but the crusaders held amongst the many dead and bloody.. at last, by turn 24 a few good groups of turcoman and the ghilmen/mamluks managed to detach from the battle, forces still capable of causing damage and rode off. Both armies brutalized, and shaken, and the sun had began it's descent.
