Forgive me fellow Ming generals. It seems I've underestimated the (southern) rebel scum and didn't utilize my full force while trying to crush them. They even dared to threaten to take our precious vases... Rest assured, I will not make the same mistake again!

P.S. Are there any outstanding challenges that need accepting?

Looking at the map Th30n it would appear that all challenges have been posted & accepted.
That correct Gavin ?

What happens when the last result is posted and we see the state of the Ming Empire ?

I believe all challenges have been issued and accepted. we are just awaiting the results. Once they have come in we can determine the final extent of the Ming and Qing Empire and I'll provide a final commentary. At the moment it looks very grim for the Qing invaders and rebels.

Unless I've missed a posted result we await the following outcomes
  • Jurchen Bannermen
  • Ming western Mongols
  • Japan Home Army
  • Ming Eastern mongols
  • North Ming

A highly relieved Ming General can report that Gavin's Ming Rebels have been seen off, but only just. An epic fight ended 62-55 in favour of the Emperor. I think that one more turn would have seen the Ming artillery rolled up by the rebel cavalry commander, but happily we managed to seal the victory in time.

It was largely an infantry battle fought over huge forests, hills and scrub. Artillery duels and desperate melees were the order of the day. As the score suggests, there was nothing to choose between either side until the last turn.

Commiserations and thanks to Gavin for an excellent and hard-fought game.

Ming Challenge : Eastern Mongols, 1600-1634, declares an invasion of the Jurchen Bannermen, Before 1622.
warrior230 » 17 Jul 2022 09:21 Ok Brian,
I'll accept this one at my peril !! Game's posted, Password Brian
Result after 7 turns
Eastern Mongols 1600-1634, 6% Jurchen Bannermen 48%

Jurchen Bannermen captured by Ming

Peril arrived in very quick time for Paul as the two cavalry armies advance on each other, the Mongols used their traditional tactics and ran rings around the Jurchen and their Banners were felled quickly.

First General warrior230 please report to the palace executioner.
The Qing emperor is disappointed his foray into the northern Ming territory was thwarted by the Ming monsters under Ming general Ahuyton. We almost had a vast collection of cannon and vases. Alas, our forces mistook thunder in the distance as fresh Ming batteries opening fire to their rear, and ran haplessly from the field just as our glorious general was about to silence the guns. Make no mistake our Empire is in mortal peril.
So, our remaining generals (and Baldrick) had better bring our royal personage much better news if they are all to keep their heads!

It is my honored duty to inform my fellow noble Ming generals that our glorious army has successfully conquered the Japanese home islands.
After surprisingly stopping the Japanese Banzai charge cold (hell even the medium artillery was fighting off the samurai hand to hand for several turns) we managed to rout the Japanese forces 59-17.

Corrections :-
  • Snuggles' successful invasion of Qing Bannermen was defended by smjohnso77 (not Ahuyton as previously advised)
  • Western mongol province still to be accepted by Ming player
New :-
  • Ming Joseon Expeditionary Force result
  • Awaiting result of Eastern Mongol
Congratulations Alan

OK I am very confused by the ma. Given I have adopted the persona of Baldrick is not surprising, but I believe I attacked the Northern Ming province and Brian is defending it. The battle is still going on as Brian has hid in a large wood and I am having to look behind each of the trees to find where he is hiding.

I have found some worthless clay soldiers but no vases yet.

I've sacked the senile old Qing scribe and hired an illiterate four-year-old Japanese peasant named Doi Yoi-kakikomi. Hopefully he's more reliable.

Game set up Lascar, usual pw.
Ming in Crisis
Ming Western Mongols Defend against the Invading Qing Bannermen
Western Mongols 1650-1700 15%
Qing Bannermen 1638-1700 43%
Western Mongols hold the Province.

A swirling Cavalry battle of shoot, charge, evade of which the Mongols were a little better at.
