game freezes

I have been having a problem for several months now where the game will freeze after about 2 turns in. Doesnt matter if I am doing DLC or vanilla game, same issue. I think I will have to reinstall game, but with the new DLC I'd like to know if I can save my armies before I uninstall the game. I would like to play my past armies in the new DLC instead of having to play from Spain right on through.
How can I save the past armies.
Also will I need to reinstall all DLCs or do you suggest just the base game.
