when an artillery unit has this Hero, and an enemy unit fires upon your artillery unit, when your unit returns fire via the CBFire Hero, do the following Hero's work? Double attack, Double Support and/or Expert Support? thanks.

Double Attack - does nothing, it only gives you an extra regular attack on your round, so will not trigger.

Double Support - return fire will trigger twice, if the supporting unit still has enough ammo.

Expert Support - rerun fire will trigger with +20% accuracy, or +10% with Skilled Support instead (stacks with effect of Double Support, so both CBF round will have the accuracy bonus).

if the counter batterie itself is attacked none of those heros will take effect. it is no counterbatterie fire then. the counter batterie is only triggered when another unit is attacked. then the support heroes will have effect.

Another couple tips for counterbattery fire:

1. If the artillery attacking you is covered by fog of war, your counterbattery wont fire, even if it's in range. So if you are setting up a counterbattery situation, you might want to stick a plane over the enemy position to make sure your artillery can see them

2. The AI really doesnt want to get counter-batteried, so it mostly won't fire if it sees it will get attacked. This isnt as big of an issue for 21 & 17cm guns because they can be put far enough behind the lines that the enemy wont see them.
However, if you stick a counterbattery hero on a 15cm, it normally has to close behind your lines for it to be in range, but that means the enemy usually can see it, and then it won't attack to begin with.

So to get counterbattery on a 15cm to actually fire, you either want to stick a plus range hero (Elsa Kloss, eg) on the unit, or it needs to be on a hill that keeps it in range to fire but out of enemy spotting

thanks for the replies! very helpful. my next battle, I'm putting 2/3 support heros on one of my 21's. been using in conjunction with the AT support but the 21's may benefit more. with AT support its very localized whereas the 21 can respond in all directions a lot further away especially with Elsa. plus, it weakens the defenses of key objectives.
