Limited Stock feature

Post by VonNikolaus »

Hello Guys!
I’ve been thinking lately a lot about the “Limited Stock feature”, special because I think that such a feature can make the game more “historically accurate”. From the beginning of the War, the Germans had a problem with the gap between the casualties and the available reserves to fill it. This Problem was even more acute with the beginning of “Barbarossa” and got, as we all know worse until the end of war.
The current “Limited Stock feature” (as in other discussions already many parcipators agreed on) is not well balanced, but the Idea was very welcomed.
So my question for is how can we make the feature better work? So that you “feel” the shortage of infantry throughout the campaign (and take special care because of the possible casualties) but also have a “reasonable” limit on your Tanks, AT etc. (because it looks always seely to fill up all of your Tank-Corps with Tigers – even in relation to the reality not that many where build).
So there has to be a good “formula” which makes reasonable relation (in numbers) between the Infantry – Tanks – Arty – etc……….and cane be incorporated in to the “Limited Stock feature”.
Looking forward on Your opinions!

linking the number of the stock received to the prestige value of the standard unit(without overstrength)

we set a base value of 500 prestige for our example.

when u receive stock of a unit u do: base prestige value divided by units prestige value times stock setting(default is 20, we will use that for this example)

example:
infantry unit at 250 prestige: 500 / 250 * 20 = 40 stock received

usual tank unit at 500 prestige: 500 / 500 * 20 = 20 stock received

super heavy vehicle at 1000 prestige:500 / 1000 * 20 = 10 stock received

like this u will get more of the units u need more of, like infantrie, fighter planes and small vehicles, but get less of the super heavy and more unique units.

maybe we can get a slider for the base prestige value like we have atm for the stock number.

sers,
Thomas

I don't know enough about programing to know how easy this would be, but I would like it to be different for different things. For example:
A stricter limit on tanks then infantry. !0 works for tanks, but not for infantry, 20 works for infantry, but not tanks.
A stricter limit for pioneers over regular infantry.
A stricter limit for some tanks over others (say Tigers over Pz IV)

It kind of works with collector, although that limits things with too few options like fighters and artillery too much
Collector can also be a problem for those scenarios that are designed for specialists, like when you suddenly need several parachute units or multiple strat bombers.

It's quite difficult to account for manpower and assets when the game has no definite scale... when we lose 10 points of strength how many soldiers are incapacitated, how many tanks destroyed? It's always going to be arbitrary.
