Hello there,
yesterday I noticed a very strange AI behaviour again. Scenario was Oboyan iirc.
AI is doing stupid things, like wasting damaged units by attacking super strong units. I dont get the reason for that, but never mind.
In this scenario I moved an elephant anti tank to the right side of the map to support my allied tiger tank "Franz". It was surrounded but 10-15 T34 with a strength of 10.
When they realized my elephant (strenght of 13-14) they started to attack it all the time. 10x t34 vs. 14 elephants always results in the same way. The russian tank gets completly destructed while my anti tank does not take damage. So in 2-3 turns the AI wasted 10-15 tanks for nothing.Ok, after loosing 4 tanks the elphant was out of ammunition and might have took one damage point.
There were no other units or special heroes involved. My elephant just got some heroes to make it even stronger, like rapid fire...
Any thoughts? Why does the AI attack when there is no chance in doing some damage?

i would have to check but i suspect the aggressiveness of those tanks is set pretty high to make sure the "franz" event goes as planned. u can check for urself by opening the scenario in the editor and check on the aggressiveness setting of those tanks.

Well i think Grondel is right.
I suppose those tanks were never intended to increase the difficulty of the map or play a role in the scenario at all outside of "getting wrecked by Franz" to show a historcial event.
but yes i cant bring an example but i have the feeling that the AI behavior has changed since 43.

All these 5 strength tanks have their Aggressiveness set to 100% and attacking target set to the town Franz is guarding, so yes, they are there to be wrecked by Franz and his men by design.

Thanks for your input, thats interesting.
I am playing david vs goliath so they were all at the strength of 10, but still Franz survived while his men got slaughtered. I hope that did not crash an event?!

Nope, thats the idea behind it. Franz survives (ok quite easy to survive in a tiger with prudent and on the roll if i remmeber correct xd)DefiantXYX wrote: ↑Wed Jun 01, 2022 3:33 pm Thanks for your input, thats interesting.

This is a good example of what maximum aggressive for AI units does. And those few units are especially given instructions to be that aggressive, unlike the vast majority of other units with their own settings.
