It's a real pity Pikes and Shot ends at the sunset of the XVII century.
I understand that with the turn of the century a different way of fighting took place, leaving pikes away forever, but it would be really interesting if Slitherine could ever consider to cover also this historical period.
Anyone knows if there is any plan going in this direction?
And, if not, any suggestion about a good PC game that covers the aforementioned era?

Re: XVIII century P&S
As a side note, I for one would say it is really great that P&S unfolds until 169x, the 2nd half of the 17th century being my favorite period and games about this area are not numerous, to say the least
I guess you know there are lots of great user-made battles in P&S about the 18th century. There's also a mod of FoG2: Ancient in the making : https://www.slitherine.com/forum/viewto ... 04#p931404

Re: XVIII century P&S
Thanks for the hints!
I was obviously aware of the numerous battles of the 18th century made by scenario designers but I completely missed the mod of JamesManhattan, so I'm immediately going to download it.
What I rellay lack, though, is the chance of making random skirmish with the armies of this period, like is otherwise possible with 16th and 17th century hosts ...

This could be modded based on the units of the community scenarios. What should be made up are the army lists of each nations.Lysimachos wrote: ↑Sat Jun 26, 2021 5:00 pm What I rellay lack, though, is the chance of making random skirmish with the armies of this period, like is otherwise possible with 16th and 17th century hosts ...

That's right!
Quite a lot of work but not impossible.
Any suggestion about where to find these lists?

History books such as Chandler's Art of warfare in the age of Marlborough
Tabletop rules such as Kershner's Warfare in the Age of Reason
(however I am not an expert of the period.)

Good ideas! I'll have a look at the book that I've already heard being a really good one.

Re: XVIII century P&S
I think The Great Northen War (1700-1721) should have been covered by the game since Pike & shot tactics was used during the war.
Re: XVIII century P&S
There are a fair number of battles from the Great Northern War available in the form of independant mods.
