conforming 2

Post by zeitoun »

In the impact phase KN don't press forward because they touch the same HF base. During the conformation phase how did the KN conformed with the HF ?

Don't see why the Knights don't step forward - you must if you can, don't recall it says anything about not doing so if you touch a base already contacted.

The Kn should have been stepped forward.

It looks to me as though the shortest conform move will put A in contact with 1 and B in contact with 2. It makes no difference which of the Kn you selected to fight 2 in the impact phase.

The Kn should have been stepped forward and it is important as it affects the conform directions ...andas RBS says it makes no odds as you still fight 2 dice vs 2 dice at impact.

This particault puzzle is caused by the impassible terrain. Shortest move will be into 1 and 2, and the rules do allow for the occasional situation where a confrom might cause more enemy bases to be contacted. A conform is not a "move" per say so is not restricted by the items on page 75. Without the impassible it looks the other way to me.

So as RBS answers but hopefully that gives a bit more of the rationale and the reason for stepping foward even in this siuation.

so, A engaged 1 in melee whitout impact phase between 1 and A. ?

And if the "impassable terrain" become Rough for exmaple, the conformation is still the same ?

It depends on the distances. As drawn it looks to me like A slightly shorter move is to the overlap. So both would be on the HF.

It is rare that troops get drawn into a melee by a conform as more commonly both would have been hit by a single knight anyway.

But the rules don't forbid it.

Similar to the way you can feed bases into a melee and frontally contact an enemy who hasn't fought in an Impact phase.

Is this right? Or is it only so if the new enemy contacted is in an existing overlap position? Meaning if I feed bases onto the flanks of my frontally engaged ones to form ovelaps and the front of these new overlappers touch the front edge of a new enemy BG within a base width of the one I was fighting, new melee opponents are created.

If non-active : You can expand to cancel an existing overlap. Even if as new BG contacted. But not into a non-overlapping base.

I acrtive: you can also expand into a non-overlapping base as there is no restriction to match an existing overlap.

see page 72 bottom right onwards.
