World Map strategic variety.

Post by Souup »

Just a few games into my first PS campaign, but I have just a couple initial thought's I'd like to share.

First, I'd love to see more of a sense of "progression" and resource management in the overworld mode, which I think could be achieved in two different ways.

1) Lock units behind a resource you need to earn/spend to unlock the unit before you can use them in your armies.

2) Lock unit upgrades behind a resource you need to earn/spend to unlock the upgrades. This already exists in the Blood Angels campaign (the various "skill" trees each of the characters has). I'd love to see these translated into the conquest campaign and expanded to each of the armies. Currently you're just given everything and it feels kind of like a sandbox army fighter, rather than that you're growing onto the map.

Second, I'd love more strategic choices in the world. For example, the ability to split an army into multiple armies (e.g., under a general that you have to recruit) like in the Civ or Total War games, would be an awesome change so you can change the forces you're dedicating to different fronts.

If you were to add a couple basic resources (per the first suggestion above) you could add to this the ability to build a building in a tile to generate the different resource types.

I guess really what I'm suggesting is that the world map be a little more like the world maps in total war or civ, but simplified.

Really loving this game, keep it up!
