I would have liked to participate in this private beta but a major change in my professional life does not leave me time for now, later surely...

Re: Help on a new campaign?
Hiya Conboy,
I'm now on the Falaise scenario and struggling. It's gone from easy with tight deadlines to very hard because of tight deadlines. Taking Ranes in under 11 turns is eluding me despite 4 attempts. It is likely I'm doing something wrong but I'm trying to follow the instructions to the letter.
The instructions suggest moving parallel but ultimately CCA & CCB must converge on Ranes as neither can do it alone. So at what point do they merge?
Pre-en-pail is also hard to touch in under 7 turns, especially as you state the FF units should be the ones to do it. But if they rush they get hammered by the stuff hiding in the woods and towns and there's not enough of them left to take the town.
One other thing, the German aircraft in the centre seem static and just hang in the air whilst my AA shoots them down.
I'll nuke the scenario so I can try the next but I'm curious to see what I'm doing wrong if others have succeeded.

Re: Help on a new campaign?
I had trepidations about Ranes being so tight. I may extend some deadlines based on that. I'll play it again myself and send you a replay.
thanks, Steve!

No worries

I've just pm'd you but could not add an image so I've got a redacted one here (to avoid giving too much away

Turn 8 and I still cannot see a way through to take it by turn 11 even with #orbitalcommand

Re: Help on a new campaign?
So, I'm on turn 11 and about where you are in your picture (thanks!) and I'm playing very aggressively, lots of casualties. So I am going to continue playing and when I take Ranes, that'll be the deadline (adding two to it for a margin).
Beta Testers, please ignore the Ranes Turn 11 Objective in the Falaise scenario, but please report what turn you take it so I can change the objective timeline intelligently. Sorry, guys, please play the scenario and nuke out of it right before you make contact with the Brits/Canadians.
I must have added some Germans or just totally forgotten to update the objective after the last playthrough.
thanks again, all!

Re: Help on a new campaign?
I´d suggest to include prefereable rutes for combat teams. Also, exit points for the French, as stated in the briefing are missing on the map. Of course, I also could never get to Renes in required time. It should be set for thew 16th round, IMHO. And the canadians should show up earlier too.

Re: Help on a new campaign?
Thank you, Mascarenhas. I think route markers are called for in this scenario, and I agree with turn 16 for Ranes. As for Canadians, the rendezvous was very far north so I think they'll start when Ranes is taken, as it is now.
I will fix the French and get them in the fight a little earlier.
Thank you for playing and commenting!

Re: Help on a new campaign?
I captured all 6 primary location, the last on turn 15. When I pressed end turn it failed to register and gave me a defeat.
I also finally had to use Warbonds, twice. Only for the blue team but I was having to take lots of casualties due to needing to hit the turn target.
I was lucky to clear the edges and cut their supply lines so they all went red, otherwise I'd have struggled

Re: Help on a new campaign?
Thank you, Steve! Sorry, the trigger is goofed up and I fixed it.
All 3d AD players, please download this file and paste it in the 3d AD scenarios over the previous one. It's scenario 10 Winter Offensive II.
https://www.mediafire.com/file/35zglx1j ... I.zip/file
Sorry to inconvenience you! If you don't download and replace, you'll have to nuke out of it.
Steve, could you go back to your last turn, Nuke the scenario, and continue? Your feedback is invaluable!

Falaise:
I am restarting this scenario from a save and have probably forgotten some info in the briefing.
The northern part of the map looks like it is not used. There are no objectives. If nothing is happening here, removing about a third of the map could speed up the game.
I think it would be better to add command points on the turns units can be deployed. I have 13 ACPs, but can't deploy any air units.
Several Allied factions have LCPs, but no reserve funits to deploy.
Some players may think thereis an issue with the scenario.
Purchasing and upgrading units are blocked. I understand that the player is supposed to use 'fixed' units, but upgrading units is a fun part of the game.
There are villages with location names, but without flags the names won't display on the map. I think maps look better with on-map display.
Anyway, the scenario works mostly quite fine.
How are you supposed to take Ranes by turn 11?
All roads are defended by the Germans and this of course halts/slows the Allies' progress.
By turn 10 I simply had to nuke my way to the next scenario.
I think you either need to add more turns, or move this to a secondary objective (you don't have any).
I think the primary objectives are a bit confusing.
You have one 'take all objs at end', but if any of the 2 timed objectives fail it looks like this is moot.

Re: Help on a new campaign?
Erik, thanks for commenting and nuking to the next scenario. The Falaise scenario needs more work, as others have pointed out, so thanks for playing and commenting. I really appreciate these comments:
Regarding the map size, it is needed later for the link-up between the Canadians coming from the north and the 3d AD.
thanks again!

Re: Help on a new campaign?
I kind of suspected that there were more to the Falaise map...
Mons:
In general I'd prefer more turns to accomplish objectives. A race against the clock precludes trying alternative strategies and seems not the best military strategy as well.
A lot of German units are revealed during the deployment phase. Intended?
Other than that it was a fun and fairly easy scenario with actions in all directions.

Re: Help on a new campaign?
Sigfried:
Instead of two airstrips next to eachother, why not have one single airfield? Looks better. You already have one construction grp as well.
I have a healthy amount of resources at the start, between 2000-2500 for each faction. i have used elite repair only. Maybe reduce the resource income and add resources as rewards?
I know, balancing the resources is difficult.
I would prefer a couple of more turns as the limited time forces you to a few premature attacks on the Sigfried line without a proper pre-bombardment.
Pretty intense scenario with victory at the very last turn. Didn't get the secondary objectives in time.

Winter I
Is there supposed to be actually winter? There's no snow on the ground.
One of the map markers (north wood) points to a no-flag hex (next to the actual flag/obj).
Short and intense battle. Victory with one turn to go.

Winter II (with proper snowy landscape)
Another tight scenario with victory at the very last turn.
No issues found.

Ardennes-1
I think you should place flag icons at arrow starts on the campaign map.
Here there's a white arrow in addition to the assumed German red one.
Slight spelling error in briefing, 'arrived'.
Several (all?) messages lack pics.
The CCR gets an additional 6 command points, but the player can't purchase units.
One objetive is a bit vague. 'destroy their combat power'.
Better to state how many SS units you need to destroy.
The zero-experience KG Peiper feels wrong. This was an elite unit. Better to replace the heavy infantry with regular and add at least a bit of unit exp.
I got a message about clearing the river banks (new order).
But the scenario ended with a victory on the same turn (11).
There's a 50 supply hex on a crossroad in the SE.
It is easy to block supply to Peiper using a US inf unit loitering in the area from start.
Without this little 'trick' I doubt I would have been able to fulfill the timed primary objective.

I haven't seen that victory condition error so thanks for pointing that out, plus the other boo-boos. All of these are good points so thanks again.

Ardennes-2
It would be nice if the player could use his own core air units when the weather clears (or replace some aux with core).
I was unable to get the phase 1 objectives in time. After 2 restarts I nuked my way to the next scenario.
I think a better general solution is to move those time-based objectives to secondary.

Rhineland:
There are a lot of deployment hexes around several German-held primary objectives. This looks odd as you may deploy the Pershings next to the objectives.
Also, I don't understand the Sherman/Pershing update process. How do you 'transform' the aux Pershings to core units? You can't update the Shermans the standard way since the purchase option is disabled.
