Wow... looks great... This could be something for Battlefield Pacific... i.e. similar to Battlefield Europe... :-)

I would have thought China is bigger?

yes, actually. But in this map, China has been cut across in half approximately.

Not sure I understand what you mean with "cut across in half"?

How do cartographers represent a round earth on a flat surface ?

Mappers must decide what to change and what to keep. Typically, their choice will depend on the type of map they create. The way they represent the spherical earth on a flat map is called projection. Each projection makes things different.

This is the biggest problem of those who create a large "flat" map. Unfortunately, flat maps distort reality. Example. Greenland is 2700x1300 km, but on a flat map it looks like 1/3 of Asia. There are 4,600 km from Norway to the border between Egypt and Libya, and according to the size of Greenland, it should be 2,700 km.

An approximate map of the world if the Axis countries led by Nazi Germany, Japan and Italy had defeated the Allies and divided their territories. Germany has almost all of Europe and half of Asia at its disposal. Japan got the Far East and Australia. The two Americas are divided between Japan and the Reich.
