Afromullet - German (North West) 1200-1319 AD with Danish 1200-1319 ally defeats Fudwuppel - Rus 1155-1264 AD with Polish 1200-1319 AD ally 51 vs 61

Multiple times throughout the match the cavalry almost flanked me. My Standard Wagon made a huge difference in this match. Fortunately I didn't have to deal with any heavy weapon units - the standard wagon did a great job against holding up against the Rus/Polish Cavalry and Spearmen, letting my offensive spearmen and dismounted knights hit hard. Towards the end, my wagon was pretty close to breaking, with close to half strength left. Thankfully it didn't.

Every time I was in position to charge that Standard Wagon, along came German and Danish cavalry to chase me away. I had never seen such skillful use of the wagon. It was the difference in the match.
Well played, sir.

Division B

Holien - Carthaginian (Hannibal in Africa) 202 BC w/Numidian Defeats desertedfox - Assyrian 681 - 609 BC allies Egyptian 664 - 571 BC 43% to 18%

Hannibal contemplated looking for another place to fight as the Assyrians had a good length in the centre of high hills to defend; and pepper him with arrows but decided that there was an opportunity on the left flank to hit the slightly smaller hill by flanking it and working along the width. Opposite was a hill Carthage could occupy and defend if this plan proved not possible. The Assyrian forces were numerous but poor quality and Hannibal was able to flank and work his way along the length of the hill. At the back of the hill was a wooded area that Hannibal used his Spanish troops to clear and flank the defenders. At the end the Assyrians did come down from their hill to launch an attack but it was too little too late.

A tough game and thanks to my opponent.

Div A

tyronec (Italian) defeats harveylh (Berber) 66-49

One tough battle. The Italians took a low hill in the center and then were on the clock to defeat the Berber infantry before the swarms of light and medium cavalry got around both flanks. A couple of RNGs going the other way would have swung the battle.

That is my last game in the division, thanks to all the guys for setting it up and to Harvey for running this one.

Division A

Kroche (Viking 790-899AD w British 600-1030AD allies) defeated desertedfox (Anglo-Saxon 950-1016AD w Viking 900-1049AD allies) 62-53

Battlefield was fairly open, slightly narrowed by woods on the Viking flanks. Anglo-Saxons advanced and were met by the Vikings. Vikings were strong on their left and tried to delay on the right with a contingent of defensive spearmen. Viking cavalry on the left flank managed to gain a slight advantage over the Anglo-Saxon horse and the Huscarls and Berserkers were able to grind down the Anglo-Saxon foot. Meanwhile the Viking holding force on the right were ground down at roughly the same rate until Vikings won on the left and Anglo-Saxons won on the right. Remnants of both armies were then readying for a final clash in the centre as the Vikings managed to squeeze over the 60% and claim victory. GG to desertedfox !

Kroche 69 points
desertedfox 53 points

Div C

Fudwuppel - Rus 1155-1264 with Polish 1200-1319 allies defeated cromlechi - Aragonese 1200-1274 with French 1155-1264 allies 74-53

This was an amazing battle. Both sides were heavy with cavalry so manoevering became quite important. The Aragonese and French were caught on rough terrain in close combat toward the end so fought at a disadvantage. It was close for much of the match. The Rus couldn't quite close out the Aragonese for the last quarter of the fight until the Aragonese, worn down by being outnumbered in melee, routed.
This was an epic bloodbath.
Well played, cromlechi.

challenges
DirtyMark - Spartan 680 BC-461 BC with Greek 680 BC-461 BC as allies

Match has been prepared and notification has been sent.
Password is London.

N.B.

The game will not allow the Romans of 280 BC-220 BC to match up with the Spartans of 680 BC-461 BC. I changed my forces to the Romans of 490 BC- 341 BC in order to make the match up work. I hope this is acceptable to both my opponent and the tournament moderators. If not, please advise and we shall enjoy a nice practice match anyway.

The tight competition in Later Medieval Division A has ended. It came down to the final game for both tyronec and harveylh. Congratulations to tryronec winning a close game to clinch the division. There is less than a month left so everyone by now should have started all their remaining games. If not, please contact harveylh, the division administrator.

Division A - Dredraddish is so very close to winning Division A. What does look to be certain is the "Dredd's" final score which should be the highest in Dark Ages and probably in the top 5 for all divisions. Aetius has a mathematical chance of toppling him from 1st spot, however would need to score 421 points from 4 games! Even though DesertedFox lost to Kroche, he scored sufficient points to guarantee Division A placement next season. The relegation battle is between MarkL, Kroche, Oscarius and RPadilla, who between them will have their own mini league to stay up

Division B - Zawzgrzyt is the winner of Division B so well done. The 2nd promotion spot is up for grabs and it is so close, BobG, Random and Triarii are the contenders and 6 points separates them, each has 1 game left. UlysisGrunt having won his last 2 games is now safe from relegation, which leaves, 2 players out TomoGoezen, IMC and Chherif in danger of being relegated

Division C - MCFCivo will most certainly be promoted now as Wellsonian and Keksoid have to face one another. Garokan who is in 2nd spot, now has to wait and see if Keksoid or Wellsonian can overtake him

We are now 2/3 of the way through and overall the number of challenges issued, accepted and games completed have been excellent, well done gentlemen. A few players are lagging behind on completed games see the above tables.
