Zawzgrzyt Polish 966 - 1057 AD with Viking 900 - 1049 allies defeats Triarii French 888-1049 with Viking 790-899 allies 61-49 (72-49 pts)

Tough game, very close. In the tumult of battle, it was the dice rolls that decided. The decisive factor was the one-off collapse of the center of the opponents army. After that, the rest of the French army, while still strong, was dispersed, unlike the Polish units. But the fight wasn't resolved until the very end and could easily have ended in another way.

Rosedelio (Numidians) defeats Aetius39 (Palmyran) 62-39

The Numidian flanking force on the left was delayed and eventually routed. However, the right was able to beat the auxilia and archers and forced the battle to center around rough patches. The quality of legionaries and cataphracts gave the Numidians a tough time, but sheer numbers won the day.

Morat (Visigoths) beat IMC (Romans) 42-15

Visigoth horse carried the day - dispatching their Roman opponents while the warbands just held on against the fast arriving Roman foot.

Thanks to IMC for the game, which felt closer than the score suggests.

Zawzgrzyt Polish 966 - 1057 AD with Viking 900 - 1049 allies defeats Morat Norman (923 - 1040) with French (888-1049) allies 56-26 (90-26 pts)

The Normans dominated in terms of the quality of troops, but there were more Poles. Opponents army, hidden behind the hill, concentrated on its left flank, hence some of the Polish troops were late for the fight. Fortunately, the right wing held up, taking advantage of the higher position. Good game, thanks.

A prolonged defense of some rough on the Spanish left, against the Ghaznavid horse dictated the game.
The Spanish were able to hold the centre with spearmen against the elephants, whilst their own mounted units enveloped the Ghazz left.
Eventually the spearmen found the flanks of the elephants and the game turned in the Spanish favour.

Hi Ian,
We played already you know.
A long and very close battle - your very superior Indian lancers all over my distinctly average sheildwalls while the Huscarls and Dismounted Armoured Lancers were off elephant sticking.
Perhaps all the dead elephants meant the never forgetting bit is gone .

Triarii French 888-1049 with Viking 790-899 allies defeats random27 Umayyad Arabs 59-33

A tight map with a narrow pass made for a brutal toe to toe for Umyads and the French quality infantry while some rabble and poorer sheildwall posted in woods prevented a cavalry outflanking.
Once the veteran dialami had spent their impact bonus the armour advantage and the Huscarls began to tell.

The winning points only just made though on turn 24/24.
Thanks to Random for another good game.
