The Defense of New York
Tensions have been rising in America, and two days ago, on the 16th of December 1937, they exploded, the Syndicalists to the North, and the Longists to the South both declared independence and mobilized for war, and this morning, the war finally kicked off. The Combined Syndicates of America sent its forces rushing out of Pennsylvania through New Jersey, directly for New York. The federal loyalists, with little time to prepare, must now mount a desperate defense and counterattack in the first major battle of the Second American Civil War.

Hey all, this is my first time creating and submitting a scenario here, this is a bit of a one-off, but I might turn it into a campaign (if I can figure out how) or do more scenarios in the Kaiserreich setting if I get more motivation to do so. For those unfamiliar with the Kaiserreich setting, it is based on the premise that Germany won WW1 because Britain and France fell to revolution, as well as America not joining the war. There are numerous other changes to the timeline and its very interesting to read about and (if you have Hearts of Iron 4) play around with.

I may have taken on a bit of a challenge making such a large scenario my first, and I'm sure that the balance is way off and the AI is probably slightly borked. Either way I was able to complete one full playthrough of it without too many issues... other than I lost lol, but I'm not great at this game in general so someone with more skill will likely fair better than I did.

Any and all feedback and suggestions are appreciated, and if bugs are found do let me know. (I couldn't figure out how to get event images working for some reason, even if I had them 512x415 png.)

Hope at least a few people enjoy it!

Hopefully, the forum images work.

This is two things I've been yearning for in Order of Battle, more (or, any) North America scenarios and historical counterfactuals. Things 80 years ago could have very, very easily gone another way after all. One of the best approaches I've seen was a book called Afrika Reich, which imagined the Dunkirk evacuation failed (extremely plausible, had the Luftwaffe been given free reign) and in the wake of that the UK agrees to give up a number of its "lesser" overseas territories for the return of POWs and a peace treaty. Now I just need to find someone to challenge, heh.

Are you using standard American units for both sides? If one of the factions were supported by other great powers (dunno, Syndacalists supported by a New Comintern?) it would be cool to see more variety.

I will be using units from other nations that supported each side in the Kaiserreich lore, in this case Britain and France for the syndicalists as they are syndicalist as well. Germany for the American Union State (the guys in the south) and Canada/general US units for the Federalists. For this mission though, it is only a few days into the civil war, so it would not make sense for any side to have anything other than American units before foreign support could reasonably arrive.

Makes sense.

Can you compress it with a .zip format instead of .rar? I don't have that set up on my laptop and .zip seems to be the standard here, or at least it's what's used by Erik anyway. I'm too lazy to go digging around for the something to decompress it when I'm only going to use it once...
