Rolling fight across the battlefield. Normans just (just) able to get their horse into their foes in the centre, while the foot held off some determined assaults on the flanks. Game much closer than the score suggests.

The Sassanids largely cavalry army met the Jewish Zealots and Skirmishers in extremely rugged terrain. Sacrificing their foot and archers, the Sassanid cav was able to extricate itself from the hills to a flat plain. But enough damage had been done that once the battle on the plain was joined, a single Sassanid break was enough for the army to retire.
