Kroche (Scots 1052-1154 w Scots and Highlands 1050-1319 allies defeated ulisysgrunt (Italo-Norman 1061-1071 w Arab North African allies) 23% losses to 51%

A small stream separated the two sides. Big clash between Scottish spears and Italo-Norman dismounted knights in the centre was eventually won by the Scots after some fierce melee. Scots win in the centre and being able to use the cover of the stream against the various threats of the numerous Italo-Norman mounted units enabled them to isolate and beat down enough knights to claim victory. Even at the end the Italo-Normans posed a threat with their remaining knights. Ultimately the Scottish spears repulsed the vast majority of charges from the knights which on another day could have worked out v differently. GG to ulisysgrunt in a very close encounter.

The battle developed as two distinct fights. The Crusaders manage to block most of the Mongol cavalry in a corner of the battlefield and annihilate them almost completely. At the same time, Crusader infantry units kept the rest of the Mongol forces at a distance by merely controlling them. Having won the battle against the Mongol cavalry, the Crusader forces concentrated for the final assault but meanwhile the night had fallen allowing the remains of the Mongolian forces to leave the battlefield. One more move available and the Crusaders would score a complete victory. Thanks for the game Dirty Mark. You played it until the last move.
